    Ok, starting an amateurs log here. I pick my selections based on little more than a quick look at their form and liking the trainer or jockey or even just liking the name!!! All my bets are placed on betfair.

    Today I am going with

    Redcar 2.50 Grudge 1 pt win @6.4 Lose 1 pt place @2.96 Win

    Todays my morning picks are in York:
    1.30 Ancient Cross 1pt place @4.1
    2.00 Sajjha 1pt place @2.31
    3.00 Offchance 1pt place @4.4
    3.35 Lord Avon 1pt place @5.5

    Not happy with placing the bets at this time in the morning because of dreaded R4's which seem to have a disproportionate effect on place bets and the price often trades out again after the reduction, before the start of the race, for the kind of unfancied horses I seem to pick.
    But, I am going to be busy in work today so I will place my bets now and take my chances on R4's or reduction factor as betfair calls it.....

    Beginners luck must be wearing thin at I only broke even on the above, though I wish I had been at my computer for the 3.25 - reckon I would have been able to lay Worthadd for a profit as it lead the race until Canford Cliffs set everyone straight!
