David O'Doherty at The Bloomsbury in June

I think this was posted somewhere but the amazing Tieranniesaur (along with a few other good Irish bands) are playing gigs over St. Patrick's Day weekend. Two of which are free afternoon shows.

I'm already going to the Whipping Boy gig, I hadn't made the connection that it was the Patrick's Day weekend :o

I probably wouldn't be going if Tieranniesaur weren't playing. Hopefully I enjoy Whipping Boy but I won't get my hopes up after reading about some of their reunion shows.

Another gig coming up - Andy Irvine (of Planxty, Sweeney's Men, Mozaik, Patrick Street etc.) is playing the Irish Centre on April 14th. Any lovers of trad and folk should check this out. I've probably seen him play solo or in bands at least 20 times since I discovered him. He's an incredible performer.

Christy Moore was the first proper gig I ever went to (was serving bar at the time). Would definitely be up for him in April. Same with the trad really

Ya it would be great to see Christy play in London

I'd actually been half-thinking about going to the above this weekend, if anyone's interested. It's either that or London v Clare but a trip to Ruislip is looking unlikely with the Central Line down this weekend...

The Comic & Cartoon show on the weekend of the 31st sounds like it could be very interesting, might head along to that :)

    But...

It clashes with Quiz Night! (dun dun DUUUUUUUUN!)

that one is actually on at 3.30 - the other two are on in the evening. I briefly considered doing all three but I think it'd be too much.

    Hey folks,

    Anyone any interest in this:

Saw him do No dogs. no Irish a few years ago in Dublin and was pretty good. Tickets are around £10! :)

Can strongly recommend this one! I saw it in Galway a while back and going to see it again on Monday. Tickets aren't too expensive if you don't mind not sitting right at the front.

And on the plus side you get to see a lot of Cillian Murphy ;)

Hi, I've recently moved over to London from lovely Limerick! I'm not sure if it classifies as an 'event' so sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I'm looking for people to go rock climbing with. Preferably in Mile End but I'd be willing to consider one of the others as well (once my monthly pass is up). If you haven't done it before it's great fun and an excellent way to keep fit... I only have a couple of months experience and I'm not particularly good at it so you definitely won't feel intimidated if you're a beginner!

Here's a link to the Mile End site if you're interested: http://www.mileendwall.org.uk/. All the prices are there as well.

    Cheers!

Hey, I moved to London a few months ago and now that I finally got my climbing gear back from Galway, I'm looking for people to climb with too! I wouldn't mind going to Mile End as long as it's at the weekend (a bit far for evening climbing sessions). So definitely interested!

Another climbing centre here in Stoke Newington

    The Castle Climbing Centre

Excellent - Weekends are mostly good for me. I'll PM you my phone number, call or send a text any time you'd like to go! The Castle, as mentioned above, also looks amazing and if that suits you better I don't mind going there (again once my month pass is up!).

    Cheers!

    Star Trek London - October 19th - 21st

I'm not a hardcore Star Trek fan but this should still be amazing!

I think that might be the one that all five captains are going to be at.

There's a Tattoo Convention on this weekend. Tickets are a bit dear though so might give it a miss since I'm not getting anything done. Said I'd throw up the link anyway if anyone's interested:

That's the one! I'm not sure why I got so excited about it. Maybe because this kind of thing would've blown my mind in 1999.

I was working there last weekend, serving food!

It's a great night out, everyone gets glammed up and there's lots of entertainment and of course the movie is fun :)

    Couple of things I've spotted:

This Must Be The Place in the Prince Charles Cinema next Tuesday (April 24) - the first English-language film by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, whose last effort, Il Divo, was a fantastic and incredibly stylish political biopic. TMBTP stars Sean Penn as an ageing Goth musician living in Dublin who travels to the US to continue his father's search for Nazi war criminals.

The Wicker Man and The Wicker Tree, also at the PCC, next Wednesday (April 25) - the original film is a cult horror classic, but not many people know the director Robin Hardy released a sequel last year, which Christopher Lee returned for. This event also features a Q+A with Hardy.

Enda Walsh's Misterman at the National Theatre, Lyttleton - Cillian Murphy in a one-man play that's supposed to be very good. Opened yesterday (April 18).

Globe to Globe - Shakespeare's 37 plays in 37 different languages, from April 21 - June 9. I can't quite figure out if all 37 are going to be performed in English, but the website is here anyway: http://globetoglobe.shakespearesglobe.com/

I also want to see The Cabin In The Woods at some point.

I'll have to see this. Not a huge theatre buff but I've heard it's excellent
