I was thinking about heading to see a band called Dignan Porch on the 23rd. The gig is on in the Waiting Room, Stoke Newington. Venue is handily located across the road from the Jolly Butchers pub which is full of nice booze.

Below is the song that got me hooked on them. The music press seems to like describing them as '80's', '90's', 'slacker', 'lo-fi'.

Went to see Grandaddy last night and they were handing out flyers, one of which for Dignan Porch. They have an album launch in The Shackwell Arms (Hackney Area, E8 2EB) this Friday if anyone is interested.

I skipped the gig on the 23rd thinking I'd go to the album launch but can't make that either!

any sports entertainment fans around these parts? I'm heading to Progress Wrestling at the Garage in Islington on the 30th (8 quid for a standing ticket and 4pm start). Their last show was the most fun I've ever had at a live wrestling event.

David O'Doherty is doing a one man show for the next few nights at the Invisible Dot.

I went last night and really enjoyed it. It was cool to see him doing something a bit different in a small room. If you like the DOD's regular shows I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this one too.

A friend of mine has organised an open-to-all pub session for tomorrow night (Wednesday 3rd October) - the remit's "Alternative Music, Film, Comics and Sci-fi", but you don't have to be particularly geeky to enjoy them. They're a good excuse to get out and meet some new folk if you're interested. I'll be heading along, possibly getting food somewhere in Soho beforehand.

When: Wednesday 3rd October, from 7.30pm
Where: The Rising Sun (46 Tottenham Court Road, Bloomsbury, London, W1T 2ED)

Drop me a PM or text if you're interested in heading along.

    Hi all,

I have a ticket for Conor Oberst in Feb 2013 at the National Concert Hall if anyone is interested? 25e.

My husband doesn't like him and my friends have never heard of him, if anyone wants to come along with me it would be great, I'm going to be sitting next to an empty seat otherwise :(

Row M, good enough seats. I'm a real Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst fan and no one over here seems to know his music which is a real shame!

Anyone for another trip to the theatre? Some good stuff on at the moment.

John Lithgow (of 3rd Rock From The Sun fame) in The Magistrate at the National.

Shakespeare's Richard III and/or Twelfth Night at the Apollo, both featuring the incomparable Mark Rylance.

Chekhov's classic Uncle Vanya is also playing at the Vaudeville.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Uncle Vanya. It's been on my 'culture thyself' list for sometime now
