Hi im writing for a friend who has a 1year and half SBT who wont eat for nearly a week.

The dog is after losing weight, has no energy, dry nose, shedding hair, bloodshot eyes. and was vomiting but has stopped lately as he has not been eating for days

He will drink water occasionally but is a wreck compared to normal.

The vet gave him a drip to nourish him sat (2 days ago) and said come back in few days. Any help or info appreciated !! (he is going back to the vet btw)

Fair play for asking on behalf of your friend. Im not going to sugar coat it for you at all...straight back to the vet and demand a full blood/cytology work up or change vets and do the same. Its been a week..faaaaar too long for the same symptoms.Do it ASAP!

48hrs (poss 72) of non eating/off form/vomiting and or diarrhoea is my limit with dogs ( im not a fussy owner believe me).

It could be a myriad of things, but with the dry nose etc he's dehydrated and has something that needs more attention than just a drip.OP...a week is too long, id be asking from my vet more than a drip at this stage.
    -is he vaccinated
-has he been exposed to toxins
    -has he been wormed (lungworm?)
-foreign body (does he eat stones/sticks etc)

The list is endless after this long...

    :o

    Thanks for the reply.

The dog is grand now back to normal. He had an operation because he had plastic of some sort lodged in his bowels ( or somewhere ). Thanks again
