Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yep, the scanlines are created by the monitor. Rotate the monitor, the scanlines go with it ;)

Its a bit odd the first time you notice it!

I'm working on some fine tuning with the MAME HLSL code and some comparison shots with that excellent framemeister mini would be handy.

Here's a snap of Gradius 2 on MAME with my current HLSL settings(I'm slowly getting it to look as I want it to).

And without any filters(nasty as foook).

Wanna share your settings ? :)

You could just unplug your Kinect (or don't buy a Kinect bundle at all!) :)

It's mad, (& I'm not referring to you Pyongy) but the amount of info people put about themselves online every minute of every day, facebook, twitter, google...a constant upload of personal info goes up by people about themselves every day to spoonfeed targeted advertising providers etc...then they're afraid to use a Kinect. Doesn't make sense :o

One difference though is that Kinect is a camera looking at you in your own home, rather than just info you have put out there (unwittingly or not).

True, but it's a failed concept more to be learned from rather than feared imo. By this time next year, I'd be surprised if you can even get kinect-bundles. The PS4 camera probably does all the same things but because Sony didn't make any noise about it, people don't care

I guess like anything, folks need to educate themselves properly before dismissing something. Although the PS4 camera wasn't mandatory and always turned on like the Kinect was originally? Moronic from MS that they thought the general gaming populace wouldn't have an issue with an always on camera in your living room that costs an extra 100 quid.

It was discovered some time back, that when the PS3 is booting, it harvests any & all data it can get from your home network (what's on the network, brands, devices etc) & transmits it to Sony as part of the boot process. I'd be incredibly surprised, if the PS4 wasn't doing the same thing & perhaps even using the camera to enhance any data it can gather. Not in a nefarious way or anything, but just as a means of collecting info to drive ads, research etc.

MS well & truly blew the launch of the One, from the moment it was announced it failed (Xbox One??? Wft!!) They couldn't have played it worse if they tried. However, in the last 6 months or so, someone with an actual brain has taken over & has started the difficult process of turning things around for them.

I just assume that as soon as I connect to the internet (from whatever device) that it's possible (likely) that someone on the other end can/do gather as much info about me as possible. I'm not up to anything dodgy so don't really care tbh. Same can be said about phone calls/texts etc. If you have an issue with big brother listening in then you need to go live in a cave somewhere.

Not saying it's right, just saying don't think your hidden because you're sitting behind a VPN or something. :D

I'm not the biggest fan of the treasure games and Ikaruga can nearly make you blind, Its like solving a rubics cube with a blind fold and boxing gloves on! only other superplay thats came close is

One thing I love about Battle Garegga is the suiciding. It looks so wrong in superplays but there's such a huge strategy to it in itself. Nothing quite like seeing someone pretty much dodging rain, only to then send their ship flying into one lone bullet!

I really have to get back to playing it. Can manage 1cc up to the start of level 4 but then the overdose of adrenaline usually sends my abilities down the toilet. :pac:

I think Garegga is a game you have to learn yourself instead of following superplays. Same as DOJ. but after watching them damn superplays you end up following them and the way they play... just got rid of my Batrider this week as I felt there was too much going on to it, just couldn't click with it!

Had never heard of Crimzon Clover World Ignition before today (to be honest I never really paid much attention to dojin releases when my main computer was a Mac, for obvious reasons). But saw it for a fiver on Steam, and knowing nothing other than it being a bullet hell shooter, gave it a go.

Must say I'm very impressed with it. Plays fantastically, and has a great 'arcade' look compared to some of the other indie shooters out there. It's one of the rare examples of a developer that isn't Cave getting the genre, and I look forward to figuring out its predictably mental scoring system in more depth.

Crimzon clover is one of my fav shooters of the past 10 years i know the creator had another shooter in the works (with dragons i believe) but seems to have gone quiet on that

Took a notion and popped a ton of shmups on my PSP Go.
    PC Engine Soldier compilation
    Twin Bee collection
    Salamander collection
    Strikers 2
    Sengoku Ace 3
    and a bunch of others.
The PC engine collection is probably the most impressive, if only that the console was host to such fantastic games.

Never thought about it just built it when I had a spare hour or so, I had never built anything like airfix as a kid. I might weather beat it at some stage :P

Picked up Gunhound EX on Steam on sale for £2.20 this evening. Ended up playing for a few hours and I really like it despite a couple of glaring flaws (zero gravity, why!?) although thankfully they're few and far between.

Astebreed and Revolver 360 are both on sale too, the former is definitely worth a look at.

Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours coming to PS4, Vita and PC later this year. I adore the original PSP Dariusburst and can't wait to play the expanded version.

Because it's a long weekend with the mother-in-law in town, and because a nice chap from the Shmups forum managed to get a video from his mate's arcade, I've been able to fix up Macross Plus in MAME.
It was a broken mess visually, but I think it's practically 100% now:

I was an active MAMEDev back in 2001-2003, but practically retired for the past decade.
I did a bunch of stuff, mostly in conjunction with David Haywood/Haze, and mostly with a shmup or fighter/brawler angle: Psikyo (PS-1/2,3/5,4), Fuuki (FG-2/3), Super Kaneko Nova System, Jaleco MS32 were the main systems, and a bunch of odd bits and bobs (Nostradamus, Magical Cat Adventure), some protection stuff and things around the core.
    Not enough time nowadays...

Cave's first Steam game is to be Mushihimesama which I'm extremely happy to hear. I've only played it briefly on PS2 and didn't have an NTSC or modded 360 to play it. I was expecting Futari but happy to be wrong :)
