2011 is the 70th anniversary of the North Strand Bombing of Dublin by the Luftwaffe on May 31st 1941. Here's some info for anyone interested in taking part in the walking tour of the bombed out areas.

Tuesday, 31st May at 12 noon – Meet at Charleville Mall Library, North Strand, Dublin 1. Visit the sites that were bombed by the German Luftwaffe on that fateful night in May 1941, bringing a taste of the horrors of World War ll to Dublin. The tour will include eye-witness accounts of the bombing before concluding at Charleville Mall Library where you’ll have the chance to view the North Strand Bombing Exhibition and Oral History Project devised by Dublin City Library and Archive. This special event has been organised to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the North Strand Bombings.

Wouldn't be sitting here typing this if the bombs had dropped on another location in the North Strand. Must get along to this, sounds brilliant.

Going to head over that way myself, it's a pity it's mid week, a few others I know would go too but have to work :(
