    Hi,
    liosbaun area in Galway. I've always wondered what it means? Is it Irish?
    I've never heard of the word before moving to Galway and never remember how to spell it. reminds me or similar named places in Portugal or Northern Ireland.

    Cheers,
    pa.

    Lios Bán/Liosbaun
    (sráid)
    Gaillimh

    Lios = ringfort (or possibly a more general enclosure)
    Bán = white

    so white ringfort

    Well, whatever about Sunday's, the place can be very busy on Saturdays and it's one of our busiest days for training. Fat Tony's is usually packed on Sat and a lot of the cafe's are very busy too. Quite a lot of places open as well.

    Oddly enough I've never made the connection between Liobaun and Lisbon until this thread :).
