Any chance of getting any info on the horse?

The suspicious side of me would say you are just going to pick a random big priced winner in 2 weeks and say that was your horse.

(has been entered alot lately with no intension of running...
    Why's that?

You should see his form ;);) + jockey will not be a big name (if you know what I mean)

Cant really say any more.....but i guess if you are watching racing and you see a market move for an outsider with very poor form in a hcap hurdle in the next 2 weeks...my advice would be to GET ON
Good stuff, I didn't think of it that way :D

Why do i have a feeling this horse is running right now?
About The House at Kilbeggan, no form whatsoever and i got it at 6/1 about an hour ago, it went off at 3/1.

I live close to the border and if theres a bet that really takes my fancy i nip across and place it there.
Its only worked once but when you change your win back into euros its like a 20/1 suddenly becomes a 30/1 .

    lol
    What a ridiculous notion

    Sorry Mellor.

When the OP's horse comes charging home at 33/1 hopefully he can by me a Blackberry so i can calculate exchange rates AND post at the same time!

    "an 80/1 suddenly becomes a 90/1"

    Happy now?

If i go back to 2008 when i made the bet i'm sure i could give you the EXACT odds ratio then too if you like.

    FFS.

It's not the FX rate that's the issue, it's the idea itself.

It makes absolutely no sense what so ever. It's ludicrous.

Give yourself a few minutes/hours/days to work out why.

gp were a merry group , into music and a bit of gambling. You'd love us!

Just to put it as bluntly as possible regardless of how many currencies you change your returns into it's does not alter the odds or suddenly make your bet any better. I'd go as far as saying it's actually costing you money. The fact that you think you're suddenly getting a better return would be an indicator to me that you need to stay away from gambling for your own good

I'm expecting you to have great difficulty with understanding this so please take a bit of time to think about whats going on before rashly replying.

Here's something to think about. Why not have the GBP stake in EUR in an ROI bookmakers? (penny dropped yet?)

In 08 £1 sterling was worth approx 0.79 cent right?

You want to bet 50 pounds on a 20/1 shot

50 pounds will now cost you 63 euro right?

So you are 13 euro down already.

You use that 50 pounds and win @20/1 right?

    £1000 pounds sterling right?

Now , change the 1000 pounds back to euro @ 1.19

and subtract the 13 euro it cost you to buy 50 pounds sterling

    how much do you have?

Now bet 50 euro on a 20/1 shot in the south?

    Whats your difference blue?

  • Registered Users Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

IT wouldn't be €177 euro would it?

:D Why on earth are you comparing different bet sizes?

Why not put the €63 on in the south?

Sorry i couldn't log on there thought i was barred.

Blue tonic i am sincercly sorry. Of course you are right.
I don't know why i automaticaly thought i was starting from 50 pounds not euro.
I work part time in Derry and i use both currencies every day.

Because Mellor quoted something i had said along time ago on a bet i obviously made with 50 pounds not euro, i presumed it was automatically right, otherwise i wouldn't have said it! but i was in fact very very wrong!

Thanks for getting a rise out of me Mellor and sorry bluetonic and co. for being blonde.

I need sleep now and i'm gonna exit the forum at the end of the week now when the log is done! (lost €50 on it today)

Sorry mods, punters et all . I want shooting so i not gonna get into any more disscuions until then.

While im typing this im thinking that the OP is never gonna give us the name of that horse now!

    Sorry Sorry Sorry Sorry. SORRY

I am of course deeply deeply DEEPLY embarassed.

sh1t happens Mike, don't be leaving the forum, not the gambling one anyway :) Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease :pac:

Fair play for apologising too, no harm done, the ole sterling euro thing is often confusing, for someone often up North it is of course preferrable to lash £20 on than €20 so easy to see where your train of thought was even though it was off track a tad :)

    No harm done Mike.
You see now why your thinkign was a bit silly.

20/1 returns 30 times the stake always*

*well obv not when its not a winning bet :)
