This is exactly why I stopped playing LOI. I had a decent Shamrock Rovers game going in FM11 but this just annoyed me too much after a while. It never happens in the English leagues.

I had 3 more games after that which were on every second day. The other teams in the league had 31 games played and I had 28 so I'm doing all the catching up now. Just as well I have the league won!

Yeah I had the league won, but didnt want to lose any games as I was on an unbeaten run for the whole league.

i remember my harps game, i played 5 games in 7 days at the end of the season, and for the last 2, most of my players were away on international duty. ridiculous AI.

Ive got this 18yo german wonderkid, been starting him in the early rounds of the cups and european games for over a year, got 9 goals last season in the cups, and a few so far this season.
Subbed him on towards the end of a league game when i was 2-0 up, and he scored. Cue the commentator "His first senior goal, he'll remember it forever"
Its his 14th goal for me.

First league goal. The game doesn't count cup goals or appearances in a player stats. If you click on a players history it is only league games/goals etc. that appear.

I can beat this. Playing with Chesterfield 03/04 i had 8 games in hand coming into late April so had to play 6 of my games in 8 days. My last week was Sunday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Saturday Sunday

I remember raising this issue on the official forums a couple of years ago when playing FM11. I was asked to post screenshots of my Cork City game so they could look into it which i did but when other people started posting about having similiar problems the thread was locked and the issue seemed to be ignored.

It's unlikely they would just ignore it. Once they have evidence of the problem they'll go away and look at it. At that point FM12 was probably well under way, but hopefully they will have sorted it for FM13.

i won the first leg 7-0
so in the second game... "were you worried when they pulled it back to 1-1?" no!
"äre you thinking about dropping some of your players? "
No they were all reserves and kids!!!

Your club is in the top 50 of best clubs by coefficients in Europe - yet its impossible to sign good players because your nation rep is only two stars!!

That's pretty realistic though, isn't it?

Being in the top 50 clubs in Europe and having two stars for reputation?? I dont think so.

Team repuation is the important thing when signing players though,co-efficent doesn't really mean much

The club is top 50, the league is only 2 stars...

It's the league thats the problem. I think my biggest signing in Ireland was Ravel Morrison from United, when he was released! Before then he was happy enough to play in the reserves than move to Ireland.

The league reputation does increase but you and the other teams have to do well in Europe first. It does happen, it just takes a while to get much of an increase.

So I'd essentially have to manage 8 or 9 clubs in the IPD and get them profitable and successful on the pitch to bring up the league rep?

Nope, just the one but you have to hope the others can give good showings themselves. If they do crap while you do well, it'll take a hell of a lot longer than if they do decent enough as well as your own good showings. It would probably still happen eventually, just a lot longer of a wait.

Oh so you cant be a three star team in a two star league? Is that how it works?
Certainly makes sense. The league was upgraded recently to 2 and half stars and due to my team performing well in europe LOI got another Champions League spot as well as another Europa League spot!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,380 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Ya, nice one League of Ireland, way to support your teams competing in Europe.. 5 matches in 11 games, splendid. Looks like we may have to give up on the cup, the youths will be getting a run... Ah well, we're in the final of the League Cup (the game against City listed below was the semi)

    49875648.png

Edit: Not really League of Ireland's fault, they're only responsible for the cup game against City and the one league game, but could have been a bit more sensible and supportive...

Bloody players think they are too big for the club - none of them will renew, so I am doing a sale of most of my top players now before I lose money/lose them on free contracts!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,380 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

I have a player who is rubbish, he thinks he should be starting though. I promised I'd offload him in the last transfer window, offered him to clubs at 4K (like I said, he's rubbish) and nobody would take him. He's morale is through the floor, he wants away, but when I looked at his favoured personnel, I was listed :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭gronemeyer

    FM related

When you're playing some mark no team and the game gives an error apres match meaning all unsaved is lost :(

Also hate finding the next South American superstar only to have send him home every couple of months because he can't adapt!

I got the same with Paddy Kenny. He missed training four or five times and even requested to be transfer listed so I agreed and offered him around. No takers. During the pre-season he comes crawling back and asks to be taken off the transfer list as he now wants to stay! Wonder if Europa League football had anything to do with that change of heart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭Chavways

You're winning by 1 goal going into extra time with an attacking formation. You decide to go defensive and put some more men behind the ball to get the win.You see the clock tick to the 93rd minute and you know it cant be good when the camera comes back to the action. Their keeper takes a short kick out and they shuffle up the field to score while your players stand like statues.

    Ends a draw.

Probably been said before but when you make changes and nothing happens as a result. I usually make my subs around the 70-80 minute range. If I'm chasing and not creating much, I'll do it earlier. Was 2-1 down last night and made three changes in the 65 minute. Not a single highlight followed for the rest of the game. No goals I can understand, but not even any chances for either team is a bit much. My changes seemed to just end the game there and then.

If you were 2-1 up there would have been 14 highlights in that time plus every second of injury time would be shown where the opposition finally score. The scorer would be a 31 year old defensive midfielder who's been at the club for 6 years and never scored before. He would heve blasted it in off the crossbar from 40 yards despite his long shot rating of 3. Definitely.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, a minor arm injury should not cause strikers to start skying every chance that come to them.

First league goal. The game doesn't count cup goals or appearances in a player stats. If you click on a players history it is only league games/goals etc. that appear.

Never liked the way that was done.

Even moreso nowadays where a top team getting to the latter stages of Europe and domestic cups has players playing nearly 60 games. If he misses a few league games it means its only counting half their games at times. Plus goals etc.

Highlight a year to see the full history for that season.

Best Eleven players have their full stats too.

One of my best defenders is in the last year in his contract. He was offered a contract from a Scottish team in the morning and agreed and signed it in the afternoon. I didn't get a chance to counter this as the game auto-simmed past this, so I was all like

Considering sticking him on the do nothing training regime, or maybe the do too much and injure himself one, but he's a good player and I need him as coverage...

Following a successful 10 year spell at Real Madrid winning numerous CL and la liga I retired to the Irish national job, the players are crap, I know we're not good in real life but we're not that bad, and there aren't enough regens.

im 1-0 down in a game, and my striker has done the square root of shag all, so i go to sub him. take him off, move players about a bit and confirm in the tactics screen.
I come back out and play the game, but before the sub can happen, play continues and he scores a screamer!
Right after celebrating his goal to get me back into the game, off he comes...and i cant do anything about it

Happens to me a lot, very annoying... Maybe he knew he was going to be taken off and wanted to make his mark??

I've had it happen a few times too.

It's gotten to the point where if I'm having one of those games (you know the ones that you really should be walking the game but are somehow still level at 70 minutes) I strongly consider subbing my star striker, just to see if that will make him score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

I dont even have enough players to fill my bench for an FA cup match now. Four are injured but another eight are away on International duty! I thought games got moved if they clashed with Internationals?

EDIT: My center back playing at RB got injured after 2 minutes, meaning another CB ended up playing RB while a CM ended up at CB in his place. My other CB scored two own goals before my second choice keeper got injured meaning I had to make a second forced change after only 20 minutes! Ended up with five players out of position and a youth player making his debut. Poxy Stoke

Yeah, absolutely ridiculous. Think it's the same in Italy, if I remember correctly! Really difficult to keep the "squad players" at a decent level of match fitness. And players coming back from injury too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,625 ✭✭✭flyswatter

Not actually in the game FM exactly, but people are too quick to blame supposed bugs in the game on their lack of success.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,661 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

Has anyone encountered an issue with changing the squad status of players?
I was trying to change the squad status of a player who was listed as indispensible to squad rotation as he's a bit part player and I wanted to get his wage demands down.
Anyway, once i tried to change it, i automatically set it to "no longer needed", and i cannot change it to anything else. I then also noticed that there were 4 other players with the same squad status which i couldn't change - first team players too. Now, 2 of those players wont renew they're contracts as they're pissed off with me Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?
    Im playing fm12.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

Never had that happen to me before. Could be a bug - can you load up a previous save where the status was not "no longer needed"?
