Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Folks,
I have been offered a job in a consultancy firm in Ireland, as Senior Developer/Senior Consultant.
I need to negotiate them on salary. What salary for this role, would be appropriate to ask?
I have 9 years of exp in Java, J2EE in Big multinational company.
Consultancy company is a major IT and management consultancy firm in Ireland.
    Thanks

Just take the UK (outside london) figure as a guide and convert currency.

Don't do this there is a massive difference in UK and here.

OP check out brightwater and hayes salary surveys, I reckon 50-60k is about the average for your role. That's permanent. Contract perhaps €350 - €400 per day

Where is this massive difference? The figures you quote are the same as UK pay outside london. Yeah sure there is massive difference in London but I did point that out.

OP, google for "java programmer salary" rather than IT consultant. Always go as contractor it pays better and you will be more tax efficient (assuming you can keep getting contracts naturally).

That seems a bit low for 9 years exp, I know people with 4/5 years on that . I would have said more in the 60 -70 bracket for perm and 450ish for contract. Its pretty hard to get good J2EE people at the moment. If I was you I would go for contract also if the lifestyle suits you.
