No destination picked as it doesn't really matter where (within Europe), just wondering what are the best sites to browse through different villas around Europe and if anyone has any experience of booking with a certain site. Booking privately with the villa owner seems to be the cheapest options but could easily get scammed this way either I'd say?

I have used www.holiday-rentals.co.uk in the past . Happy with their service and good description and info on the the site .
Another good bet would be a Gumtree search , usually these listing are by the owners and probably cheaper and more flexible regarding booking regulations.
