Hi,

I am currently writing an essay on the strengths and weaknesses of denominational and multi-denominational schooling in Ireland.

I have been trying to find some concrete evidence/information about disadvantages of educate together schools, but finding a little difficulty. I did see on one of the threads here that someone took their child out of an ET school because of their children not being challenged.

Would anyone know where I could find academic results of any kind from ET schools or even any websites which state some disadvantages of Educate Together/multi-denominational schooling?

Academic results at Primary level can be measured by looking at Micra T and Sigma T results, I suppose, but I can't see any school being too willing to disclose their results to anyone.

Every school is different but SOME of the new ET schools do have a large number of EAL children enrolled. This would indicate or could indicate that the standard of English may not be on a par with schools that have a low percentage of EAL children enrolled in them. I do have a colleague teaching in one such school in a large urban area and her biggest difficulty is the standard of English as it's not the language spoken at home. Also, non Irish parents do seem to favour sending their children to ET schools over denominational schools.
