Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering if I can set up my xbox to surf internet as my laptop is an asshole and I am going to have to wait a while before I can get a new one.I was thinking of using my xbox through the tv for a while. Just for general email and facebook etc.I know I have to register but do I have to pay ? and how much?
    Thanks
    P.S.
Bit of a technophobe so pretend this is all new technology. Only realised I had the xbox and have no idea where it came from.

There is no web browser on the 360. If you subscribe to Xbox Live Gold you can use Facebook. Gold is 6 euro per month.

You could just stick ubuntu on your laptop. It should give it a new lease of life.

Man you got me so excited over there, but it was an anticlimax. i followed the steps on the tutorial and video, but i dont get the "online media" option showing up on my xbox, as in 2:04 of that video. google doesnt seem to help either?

EDIT: looks like it doesnt work on Windows 7 after a bit more googling. what a pitty.

I'm fairly sure that they way(and i skipped to the end of the video so i'm working off a ruff assumption) he did it actually uses your laptop and most of what the x box is doing is just putting it up on your tv nice and shiny...

The only way you can make your Xbox programmable and therefore install a web browser would be to do what they call a Jtag. This only works on old models of Xbox and involves a soldering iron a steady hand and a lot of experience with electronics...

Wouldn't recommend it. I haven't done it myself but you could destroy your xbox from the inside out while breaching your warranty and if you go online with any form of Jtagged xbox you're likely to banned from Xboxlive.

so to summarize no :P... sorry dude

yea i understand how its just the PC pushing the sites to the xbox, but my media centre and xbox dont show a key option, which is a limitation of the media browser working on windows 7 x64.

If you can borrow a ps3, it has a fairly decent web browser and free Facebook access

There are even lighter distros that you can use like damn small linux. You can boot them directly from a CD to test it out without installing.

The web on any console is pure poo. You would be less frustrated using your laptop, no matter what the condition! :)
