Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I am trying to get someone to install Wordpress on my website - I am being quoted some outrageous amounts for this - ranging from €300 - €1000. Someone is telling porkies about what it costs ..but who? Can anyone offer me any advice? I would really appreciate some guideance. Thanks

Wordpress is free, setting up your own site theme and adding content is what will cost, depending on how much work is involved.

Thanks Kenny, I have read that it shouldnt take much more than 30 mins unless there are lots of plug ins - cant spend €1000 am hoping someone will do it for closer to €3/400

It really does depend on how your site is set up, it should only take a few minutes (basic setup) in theory, but I have had to completely restructure a site in the past to make a tidy install.

Have you asked for a custom theme, to match your existing site, or is there a lot of content and plugins needed?

You'll probably get a few PMs offering to do it now, if you do check their existing sites and testimonials, if there are any... ;)

One important thing to note for the OP: "installing WordPress" is one of those tasks that can vary wildly in the implementation because it's very subjective at to what it does and doesn't include.

It could involve simply setting up a database, copying WordPress in and linking them - i.e. a standard install, takes 10 minutes give or take 5 minutes depending on connection speed.

Or it could involve setting up a standard WordPress install, finding an appropriate theme (free or paid), configuring that theme, setting up 5-10+ plugins, configuring and placing Widgets, setting up standard WordPress-as-a-CMS, creating default pages, setting up slideshow with posts etc. That could easily take 3-5 hours, depending on what the spec is.

My point being: the €1000 could be for the former or the latter. If the former, it's not a good deal (to say the least). If for the latter, it could be a fair price for quality work.
