Ok. This place sits on a plateau west of the Millau Viaduct in an area called The Cevenne.
The campsite is run by a Scot called George ( when we were there 2 yrs ago we were greeted with open arms by George as we were the first english speaking guests they had) and a French girl who gave up the London 'city' lifestyle and bought this campsite to renovate.
The views are spectacular and more rural you could not get. In fact it really is in the middle of nowhere if you wanna get away from it all.
The area is home to the sheep that produce Roquefort cheese.
We stayed for 4 nights in one of the Yurts (google it!!!) and it was something completley different.
At the time they had Wigwams but were not in use.
Its about 20-25 mns drive from the town of Millau and well worth a stop of if going that way. They had space for every size tent/camper/motorhome.

Hi all, we stayed in Camping du Sierroz in Aix-Les-Bains.
A lovely campsite with functional bathrooms/toilets, washing machine/dryer, a cafe/restaurant on site, and a very basic shop with bread/croissants in the morning.
The situation especially is great : this campsite is located beside the Grand Port, at the lake.
At the Grand port there are some restaurants (disco one night, a bit noisy but not unbearable), and that's where the boat trips for the lake leave. Tourist office is there too, and an ATM.

The promenade by the lake will lead you to Petit Port to the left, where the aquarium, the snazzier beach (private and public parts), lots of snack/ice cream huts, and some merry go rounds/carts/kid's entertainment spots are located. It's a pleasant 15 min walk to the beach (along the tree lined, lakeside, pedestrian promenade).

Right outside the campsite there is a bus stop. Line 2 will take you to a supermarket (terminus), via the city centre, thermal baths, etc...

The town's little tourist train stops in the campsite every night, but to board it for the tourist town visit, you need to climb in at the Grand Port (2 min from campsite).

The plots are pleasant, reasonable size for a camper, hedgerows separate most plots. This is where our only trouble was : we were woken by a youngster with a hedge trimmer at 8am one morning in the plot, and have to say, our gentle complaint to the managers was not very well handled. Staff at reception were not rude, but not overly courteous either. So apart from the staff, a great spot to spend a night or more, there is plenty to see and do in the area.

    Oops, double post :)
I just reposted on same campsite + others on the Eastern France thread :o Didn't remember I had posted about this before.
So if you're looking for more campsites near Alps and a bit further on towards Lyon, check the Eastern thread too.
