Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

need help... mouse / text selection problem

Hey everyone, hope you can help me out on an issue i have on my home pc.

My mouse is having trouble "holding" what i select.
For example if i want to copy a piece of text, say a paragraph, and i start on the first word... it will select a few words before it just stops... its like it cant hold my memory in the selection process.
strangely, if i right click and choose "select all" then theres no problem.. similarily if i double click on a word it is automatically selected..

it just the 'drag and click' type selction doesnt work.

this is infuriating because it occurs on other programs i use, such as autocad and google sketchup.... sketchup especially because an integral function is the selection one.

i use a wireless mouse, a logitec EX100 desktop package, and im 99% certain its not an issue with the communication between the mouse and base.

has anyone got any ideas? or past experience?

    thank you in advance

That's happened to a few of my (oldish) wired mice. In each case the cause was a bad contact developing in the microswitch under the left mouse button. A few squirts of Servisol Super 10 into the microswitch fixed every one.

Can you borrow another mouse to confirm if its a hardware or software issue?

    Just a temporary solution.

Place the "I" bar at the begining of the text you want to select. Then when it's flashing, hold "Shift" and use the arrow key to select the text one letter at a time. Hold "Ctrl and Shift" then the arrow keys to select whole words at a time.

Mouse's are dirt cheap so its not worth the bother to try loads of fixes that just get you fustrated.
