Mainland Europe Police Forces

    Hi folks,

Does anybody have any experience/knowledge or know anybody who have joined or are joining a European policy force such as the French or German/Austrian, etc?

To be honest the idea is becoming more and more attractive especially when you consider what the options are here:

    1. AGS not recruiting until 2014 at least - I'll be 31 by then.
    2. Public respect for police officers in mainland Europe + lack of abuse
    3. Smaller proportion of skobes and/or public disorder
    4. Prosecutions result in punishment, your work doesn't go to waste.
    5. No more contributing to paying back the losses of the bankers + builders

There would of course be disadvantages:

    1. Having to learn a new language
    2. Leaving Ireland/home

Does anyone have any advice or tips?

Ya it's another option alright, apparently they need to have a quote of catholics and they can't get the locals to join up for obvious reasons.

What county are you from yourself? Would my cork accent not get me killed like? Though being from Bandon I could easily play both sides :D

Ah no seriously though, how do you find it in general?

I'm from Dublin boy! They don't hear the accent up here. We're the third religion: Catholic, Protestant, and Peeler! I'm doing it for many years now and I love it. It's a challenging job but the training is great and there's plenty of us Mexicans in the job now so no matter where you go, you won't be the only accent from across the border!

Very interesting PSNI. Is there a drive on any-time soon ? Would be interested in this, not sure about the logistics of the whole thing but it's something I have considered and what better place than up North ..
