I'm thinking of getting the Freesat system in, and i'm wondering if i will still be able to record programs off the television with the DVD-R player i already have at home?

Does the freesat box connect to the back of the DVD player like the roof aerial does?

I know you can get boxes that can record, pause etc but i just want to see if my current equipment will work.

AFAIK, most of the newer ''OFFICIAL'' freesat boxes don't have rf in/outputs, it's just scart, hdmi. It has no relevance whatsoever to your roof aerial.

To get the older analogue rf in/out you would probably have to go with one of the unknown brand fta/combo boxes.

Your DVD recorder should have a scart connection though which would be much better quality anyways, compared to the rf connection.

Simple solution, just loop the freesat box through the dvd recorder via scart, you get the freesat picture on tv and can record it and if you want to play a dvd that signal simply overides the freesat signal. Two scart leads is all that's needed and job done.
