I'm still playing on a 40gb PS3, had it since release and it's never let me down.

How big are the files to these free games?

Infamous and lbp are both over 6gb iirc, so good luck with that! Wipeout and R&C are smaller, but still not all that small!

Uh oh, that's a quarter of my cap gone for the month then. Damn Vodafone

Is it not possible to get all the game by logging into a different account

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,627 ✭✭✭Fol20

    Infamous is a must.

You could d/l one this month and the other next month. You have 30 days to get them.
Also, I think if you d/l and then cancel straight away, it'll show up in your downloads as owned - open to correction on this.

If the accounts were active before the outage...maybe. We don't know yet.

Hi can anyone advise me on what 2 games to pick, I have Infamous and Ratchet and Clank already on disc, and I already have played through all of Little Big Planet, so what games would people suggest to get? Are Infamous and Ratchet and Clank discs worth anything selling or trading in anymore?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 799 ✭✭✭Legwinski

Was gonna buy Infamous when I got my PS3 in Jan 2010 as it looked class. The demo put me was off though so I definitely won't be getting it.

    LBP and Wipeout methinks.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,219 ✭✭✭Lab_Mouse

    Dead nation and infamous methinks.

never liked the wipeout games.Wratchet and clanks is a bit meh and LBP is one seriously over rated platformer.

Any news on when the store will be back up or is it a case of its up ewhen its up?.(sorry if it was posted earlier in the thread, dont have the time to read it all:o)

This works as said, tried it with the Fallout DLC a while ago when that was free. Tried to download and cancel then get it when you're ready.

I think it's supposed to be back on Tuesday the 24th.

Will it be possible to download demos/trial versions? I'm definitely getting Infamous, but undecided on the second choice.

Have infamous great game so I'd recommend that. Ill go for wipeout and ratchet have the rest of them.

For me, PSP minded, I'd pick up Killzone and ModNation

My disc reader just broke and Sony won't be doing anything about it so i reckon I'll choose the two longest games! Infamous and littlebigplanet I reckon!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,325 ✭✭✭Q_Ball

InFamous and Wipeout for me! Was a fan of wipeout on the PS1 but never got around to getting the HD version. Will get InFamous because I thought the demo was pretty nifty.

What's the story with claiming these? I got an email from sony saying that my station account was topped up with 45 days worth of play time. I thought this odd since I haven't played a Sony MMO since I trialled that FPS game that I can't remember the name of years ago...

Do we get an email before or after we change passwords? I've been away for a few weeks but will be back home on Thursday, was planning to do it then.

The Infamous demo wasn't good, I've played various R+C's to death and LBP isn't my thing.
So having had time to think about this I'm going to get Dead Nation for its co-op online play and Wipeout on the recommendation of others posters.

P.S anything I said before about Wipeout was based on my impression of the game when I played it once on ps1 which was a long time ago but I'm willing to try it again however if it's as s##t as I remember then you'll know about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,345 ✭✭✭landsleaving

I didn't much care for the infamous demo, but then loved the full game, so it still may be worth a shot if you don't think the options are great.

Just wanted to ask a question and didn't think it warranted it's own thread.
Am I right in saying that the PSN store is back online tomorrow?
If so when are the free games available?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 866 ✭✭✭LuckyFinigan

With the store reportly going back up at some stage tomorrow, do ye think will get our welcome back games straight away?

I don't know but since I have two PSN accounts I'm going to have invest in a new memory stick pro duo. I hope they have Final Fantasy VI on PSN. It was due for release just before the drama happened.

Yep. It's the PS1 version from FF anthology. I got FFV just before PSN went down. The release dates here are messed up. It says FFV only has a Japan release but it's been out on EU PSN for over a month so I'm guessing it will be the same with FFVI. The PSP versions of FF I and FF II were released for a tenner each not long before the system went down too.

Dead nation has a new patch up, 1.03 its 182 mb in size and its meant to be for future dlc. ( total of 229mb of patching since launch for those getting it )
Sony know what games to give out for free alright, they'll be hoping for further revenue from its dlc now.

Wow, ffv And ffvi are going to be available?! I love playing final fantasy on the psp, got half price codes for the first two from buying 3rd birthday and dissidia duodecim so I'll probably get them too for completeness. I'm going on a shopping spree when the store is restored! :)

Yeah FFV is already available. It's pretty cool that every Final fantasy game from I-IX (except III) can be played on the PSP.( I got III for the DS though.) I'm tempted to get the new Dissidia and FFIV compilation but I'm waiting for them to go down in price as I already have FFIV on DS but it's in 3D which is kind of weird.

Anyway, when I tried to log into PSN store this morning I was prompted to update my PSP firmware. It's still under maintenance.

Class, it can't come back soon enough. I bought the FFIV collection a few weeks ago, but it came down to £15.99 or something the other day on amazon and I saw it for €24.99 in GAME last weekend.

Playing through the new FF4 at the moment.

Really gorgeous, new animations for summons, spells etc. Installed so its the least amount of loading time in any FF I have ever played (which is hadnly because there are alot of random battles).

Enjoying it so far, had a number of deaths but you usually ace the boss fight the second time. (Never played FF4 before so it is all new to me).

    Not today now.

    Sony:
“The latest information I have on PlayStation Store is that we are aiming to have it live by the end of May. Contrary to popular rumours, it will not be reopening tomorrow but we will let you know here as soon as the date is confirmed.”

meh comon end of may! and as to letting us pick new batman etc NEVER gonna happen. that is such a high revenue stream. they are dangling reasonable games as carrots to entice us back to buying on the network. if i could pick any two games i'd go for tomb raider and the latest sonic!

Will definately get Infamous, can't decide on what else though after watching the reviews. Is there much story in dead nation or is just mindless shooting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,952 ✭✭✭✭Stoner

I'm unsure what to get, I already have Wipeout HD , I really like it, you have to load up your own playlist if you want the classic chemical brothers songs, but the ones off the released CDs dont match the ones of the original PS1, I'm sure the tracks are around somewhere on line.

I have 2 PSN accounts, and I already have InFamous, so I'l just get all the rest of them.

Some of us have Irish, UK, US and Japanese accounts and are waiting to see if we can get the welcome back packs from different regions.

I would defiantly recommend Dead Nation - it's loads of fun
    Only two games I don't have are Wipeout and R & C

Didn't see this posted, but the Japanese package has been released (source: http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/05/27/asian-psn-welcome-back-package-detailed-games-disappoint/)

    The Last Guy
    LocoRoco Cocoreccho!
    echochrome
    WipEout HD
    Hustler King

The free games for the PSP, meanwhile, are as follows:

Yuhshanokuseninamaikida or2 PSP the Best (What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2)
Everybody’s Stress Buster (Hot Shots Shorties)
    PATAPON2 PSP the Best
    LittleBigPlanet Portable
    LocoRoco -Midnight Carnival

PS3 games are so-so (although the Last Guy is a nice if bastard hard freebie if we can actually access 'em!) but I think I prefer the PSP games - would prefer the eccentric likes of What Did I Do... / Patapon / LocoRoco to the fairly bland offerings we get!

Yes theres a story, but its fairly basic. Its a fantastic game though. Got it on launch myself. Youve a nice range of weapons from the basic rifle to the shocker which pops the zombies head off, and theres the mine which is very useful to prepare for massive attacks. Zombies range from the standard weak guy, (a melee will kill him) to big guys like the jumper whos jumps high into the air and crushs you and and guy who has massive knives on his arms ( one tip and your dead ). The stats of the game are impressive two, it names out the best killer in each country among others.
