Some Irish from the British Monarch, i think that's more Irish than some of the "real" Irish who where protesting would know.

Fair play to Her Majesty and well done to Mary,

I'm hoping this is the start of a new era.

Wheres éirígí now, you bunch of dole grabbing, plonkers!!...

Why bother bringing yourself to that level to even mention that bunch?

Just an interesting little event back in 1907 that would have been associated with this visit, had the Irish Crown Jewels not been stolen from Dublin Castle in that year...

I wonder is there a pool at each table guessing the length of the speech?

The Queen says a cúpla focal!

I'd say the anti-Irish brigade here on Boards are fuming right now about the use of the Irish language during this ceremony.

Whose idea was it to elect a civil engineer as president again! How many bridges has she built?

Maybe it's been mentioned, but was all that hand shaking really necessary for a frail 85 year old woman? Most of them were ****ing nobodies. That was the guts of 30 mins. The woman was fit to collapse. Ridiculous.

Great speech from Mary, and a marvelous occasion for this country. Let us embrace this chance, move forward and build peace and stronger ties. It's the only way we'll prosper and survive.

Oh, as for Iris, by god that woman has a hard neck! Showing her face in public!

I'm sure many of us thought we would never see this day, let alone The Queen utter Cupla focal!
Many a hat being eaten around the country I'm sure.
    Brilliant stuff.

Have to say, both speeches have been fantastic and the best we could have hoped for.

    Mary has done us proud.

The Queen is not drinking now as she intends to head for Coppers after the grub. Expect to hear her singing "Take Me Up To Monto" later tonight.

I can't get over the ordinary look of the room, it looks more like a Chamber of Commerce dinner than one for the Queen...

I know - I think it is the round tables as opposed to long banquet ones that makes it look so odd
