I recently requested a copy of my credit history from the Irish Credit Bureau, just because im nosey. Nothing major to report thank god. But i did notice something a bit odd (to me). Im with AIB, and i was considering swapping to Ulster Bank. I got half way through the process of applying online for an account when i stopped and just clicked off the page (i realised i hadnt all the info on me that id need to finish). But it looks like Ulster Bank requested my credit history on that very same day from the Bureau. Is that an odd thing to do? Can they do that without my consent? I understand it happens with loans, but just for wanting to open a current account?

Current account applications are scored as a matter of routine. I'm pretty sure it's covered in the "tick box" terms and conditions of the UB online account processing box if my memory serves me correctly.
