  • Registered Users Posts: 1,242 ✭✭✭Moon54

    Yeah, should be no problem.
The upgrade possibilities may depend on what you have at the moment.
What RAM do you have atm? Also do you have 2 or 4 slots on the motherboard?

Just in case, what are the other specs of your desktop, and what do you do with it? It might be the case the 4GB would benefit you. Since you're uprading anyway, couldn't hurt to look into it.

Its just for browsing and listening to itenes, nothing to major.Right now the computer is slow starting and getting programs running but as soon as there loaded seems fine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,180 ✭✭✭Serephucus

That's either a hard drive or a processor thing. More RAM never hurts though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,099 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

Is there any way to check to see which one it is?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,180 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Well, if you download Speccy and list your specs, I can probably tell you straight off.

Your computer is... very old. If you want it to be faster, you'd have to buy a new one I'm afraid.

In the meantime, 2GB of RAM will be fine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,099 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

Yea I know that,2 gigis of ram will make a noticeable boost to the computer?

by the way thanks for all your help.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,180 ✭✭✭Serephucus

It should, yeah. I remember working with a P4 machine last Summer. Upgraded it from 256MB to 768 and saw quite a jump. It's only going to do so much though, don't expect miricles.
