Screened topsoil

Hi folks, A friend of mine got some 'screened' topsoil, which was ment to be enriched for vegetable growing. I went over to help today and was a bit shocked at the quality. What does screened topsoil contain? I've seen lots of stones (around 40% of the total 1ton bag), loads of seeds which have started sprouting, wireworms…

Hi folks,

A friend of mine got some 'screened' topsoil, which was ment to be enriched for vegetable growing. I went over to help today and was a bit shocked at the quality.

What does screened topsoil contain? I've seen lots of stones (around 40% of the total 1ton bag), loads of seeds which have started sprouting, wireworms and loads of plastic, glass, netting and loads of broken pot fragments.

Is this the norm for screened topsoil?
