Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I saw a preview of 'The Runway' a couple of months back. It's OK, but more of a TV movie than a cinema experience. It uses the real story of the Mallow crash very, very loosely!

Exactly - it's a crash by a Colombian in the film, in west Cork or Kerry. So, only a very loose interpretation of the actual event.

Yes. That loose. I kept telling myself during the film that it couldn't be based on the Mallow landing. It simply couldn't. But apparently it was!

A bit nasty, he did this country proud in the Olympics :(

There was a few days in the 1996 Olympics when Michelle Smith was winning everything and we thought Francie Barrett was heading for a medal, and Sonia was nailed on for a few Golds.

It all fell to bits, but it was great while it lasted

Anybody remember Marty Morrissey's classic interview with Francie's mother during the Olympics...

Marty: "Was he always tough as a young lad"..
Mrs Barrett: "Ah yeah Marty, he was.. "
Marty "Did you ever get a belt off him yourself"...

I'd say Marty never lived that one down..

Oh God, I missed that, sounds good.

Any chance of you resurrecting the 'Worst LLS of the Year' awards now that we are at the end of the Series?

The travellers get a lot of stick (much of it is completely justified) but I think that these lads are sound.

    No,

"Isn't it terrible about Garret?" and

"Wasn't it great about the Queen" and

a plug for a weak looking Irish film is all you missed.

The Traveller community are the same as the settled community, there's good and bad in both, and in the same proportions.

Series 1 : Francie helps travellers to trace their genetic roots..

Series 2: Francie helps the people of Ireland trace their stolen property..

Gay Byrne devoted a whole night to Travellers many years ago.

It was very controversial at the time.

They never break the LLS format any more, even for Tribute Nights.
