Underground culture?

    Hey all,

    I was wondering if anyone knew of any obscure, underground cultural events happening in Dublin? This can be anything such as film screenings, music, exhibitions, etc which do not receive mainstream media attention, and have an indie vibe to them. I'm writing with a new magazine, due to be launched in early July and I hope to cover such events monthly.

    Strictly legal events BTW!

    I heard of some swingers parties recently, but mostly that they got raided at about 3am... Apparently they rent penthouse apartments around the city.. I am not personally associated with anyone that would really know details however... sorry!!

    You could try and befriend some of the better piercers in the city, see if you get an invite to a suspension event...

    burlesque nights popping up around the city, check out burlesque and cabaret forum for details..

    Theres an article in Look left magazine this month about underground events and goings on in Dublin. Looks like most of the fun ones are illegal though!

    Hmm, not 'underground', but a guide to a lot of whats going on in Dublin thats either quite cheap or free of charge (which is always good). I tend to check it fairly regularly- http://dublineventguide.com/

    Why would a swingers party be raided? Nothing illegal about consenting adults having a gang bang is there?

    Most of them would involve prostitutes. When theres money involved then yes it is illegal.
