Strawberry mousse help :(

So I'm making strawberry mousse for stuffing into lemon cupcakes.

The mousse is in the fridge about an hour now and is still quite liquid.

The recipe called for whipped cream and egg whites. No gelatin.

I was wondering if anyone knew if putting gelatin into the mix this late would wreck the whole lot?

I just think if I pipe this into my cupcakes it will soak into them and make them really mushy which is the last thing I need right now.

Any suggestions as to what to do?

That's not going to set, there's nothing in it to make it set, did the recipe say this was a "mousse"? That's basically just lightened whipped cream. If you mix in gelatin now you'll deflate the egg whites amongst other things, unlikely to work.

    Where's the strawberries in that?
