I reciently got one of these.
Fold Drybag XXS. Fits an mp3 player and phone/ money/ whatever.

I have already ended up in a river and everything was sound when I came out.
I just clip the loop around me.

There are loads of Ipod specific carriers on the market

Ziplock freezer bags are your friend.

Wrap the iPod up in one, zip up as much as possible and poke it in your armband. Keep the open side down if possible and it'll keep out almost any rain.

I just put mine inside one of those zip-lock freezer bags and put it in my pocket. Hopefully the fact that it's inside that and inside my pocket will keep it dry.
