Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For a non-business site should I consider .net or .org?

Does one have any advantage over the other?

    Who controls these domains?

It would be a community type site not restricted to Ireland.

Well dot com would be the most obvious one as it's the domain most people think of first but you maybe limited by which domain has the name of your site free

Net is usually used for companies connected to the Internet somehow so .org would be my suggestion.
There are others like .info etc.
Look into what gTLD's are available.

Also consider that .com is the most common and that people won't think of trying .net or .org if they try to find you on the net (but usually they'll just google the company name anyway).

Yes! I was tending towards .org. It seems to be used by charities and so-called "civil society" undertakings.

A search engine queries throws up all domains anyway. Most .coms are commercial.

.org is restricted to non-profits I believe so rule that out.

Thats the original intended use, though there is no actual restriction.

Its harder to get a .com website as many website names are ready in use or bought up by speculators .
