xbox live update today ? b0rked my xbox kinda

    Hi folks - just got an xbox live update, I think it was the flashing the drive update, and now I can't join parties, join multiplayer games etc

    Anyone else get this update ?

    my dashboard version is now 2.0.13146.0

    Just to add, games are loading from the dvd drive, so its not an issue with actually loading the games, just can't join any multiplayer :mad:

    Mine's applying now. Disc drive was making some uncomfortable noises.

    any update Nekkie ? I'm guessing perhaps because people on my friends list had different dashboard, perhaps thats why I couldn't connect to them - strange they haven't been prompted for the update though

    Seems to be working fine. On sky player now, and it loads discs etc OK.

    yup mine loaded games fine, but couldn't join multiplayer on COD or create xbox parties for chat. Likeiwse sky player is working grand

    the drive did a few reboots as far as I could tell when flashing, but settled and didn't sound any louder.

    i had that problem too,
    me and several of my xbox live friends(also in ireland) cant connect to each other anymore. saw something on ign about the new xbox update. apparently some older xboxs wont work with the new update, microsoft, however said they will replace any xbox that wont work cus of the update.

    i do not know if this is what is happening to yours and/or my xbox but its something maybe to look into:)

    Am I the only one half hoping it does screw up Xbox?

    What with Microsoft already saying if it does bork it, shiny new 250Gb Slim replacement wings its way to you.

    Apparently the update is being rolled out in blocks based on console serial numbers, and everyone should have it within the next 2 days.

    Got my update just now, console has turned off and on 3 times and it still hasnt downloaded fully, anyone know what the hell this updates for?

    I just got mine as well. Seems to be working fine damnit!


    According to majornelson.com, it's a software update to allow the console to read the new higher capacity discs. An extra gigabyte by all accounts.

    Apparently, they've also added the functionality to purchase stuff on XBox Live using PayPal.

    Hmm I thought there will be new dashboard... I got update, but everything looks the same. I must have missunderstood.

    Don't understand why such big hype about this update so. Just because some people expected a free console?

    got the update today, everything seems to be fine, update itself turned off the console twice while installing which was worrying at the time...
