Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A feast of racing for athletes of all abilities will take place on the day, . The Aquathon Festival has something for everyone regardless of previous triathlon experience, from beginner to the more seasoned triathlete.

The Sprint race of a 750m Swim in Galway Bay and 5k Run in the Claddagh is perfect for those wishing to dip their toes in the sport of Triathlon or those who have taken up the sport recently and are looking for a mid summer race to test their abilities.

The featured race of the day is the Long Distance course with a 2km Swim from Blackrock to Grattan Beach and a 10km Run around the scenic route of Grattan, South Park and the Claddagh.

I'm looking forward to this already as it's on my doorstep! Planning on doing the long course. I just have to get the 1500m in 45 mins qualifying time the weekend before in athlone.

@topcat77 - great to hear that you're looking forward to the race. We're (in the club) all really looking forward to the festival this year. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Just to let people know about an upcoming club event. If people are a little nervous or over-awed at the thought of the race but would love to do it then this could be an ideal opportunity to dip your toe in the water <boom-tish>
GTC - Give it a Tri – Wednesday 22nd June

    Blackrock, Salthill 6.30pm

On Wednesday evening June 22nd GTC will host a non competitive Tri a Tri event for all our new members and beginners providing an opportunity for you to take on a short distance event in a friendly and social environment whilst hopefully picking up some vital training and race day tips along the way. The event will be very similar to our ‘Beginners Bootcamp’ however this time we are going to take to the open water and the open road. This is not a race.. it is a training and familiarisation event!

The format of the Give it a Tri Event is as follows:

    500m Sea Swim / 15k Group Cycle / 3.5Km prom run

To sign up for this event please email galwaytriclubsecretary@gmail.com or email Beginners Officer Joanne on galwayfr@enableireland.ie

Please note you must be a GTC member and a TI member to participate in this event.

While I know it's the start of June, the club does hold training sessions all year round, albeit to a lesser degree in winter. However there is still A LOT of summer left and it's a great way to get to know new people, find a few new training buddies and set, and achieve, a few personal goals.
