Building a cheap gaming PC

Hi guys,

I’m interested in building a pc for playing games, StarCraft 2 in particular. I’m looking for a cheap spec I can copy as I have lost my way a little in the pc tech world. I’m thinking of going for a Pentium i5 processor as I heard it has a good power to cost ratio and is easy to overclock if needed, although I am willing move away from the i5 if you have a better idea.
I am also looking for a good site to buy the components from.
Any and all suggestions are welcome and I look forward to hearing from the greatest pc building minds Boards.ie has to offer

I am a simple man so please try to speak in layman’s terms were possible

Whats your budget, do you need an OS/Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse?

Hi Deconduo, thank you for your speedy reply. Im looking to spend €500/€600 but im willing to bump that up a little if needed, but only if needed. I have a Windows 7 64 bit OS.
Im not sure if this is possible but I was thinking of hooking my new PC up to my 32" HD flat screen TV and going without a moniter. Mouse and keyboard will be needed.

If your TV has a HDMI connection then that will work. You can then get something like this:

Its slightly over budget and doesn't have a keyboard or mouse, but it will play any game you throw at it. If you want to tone it down a bit dropping the CPU to an i5-2400 and getting a cheaper motherboard would work, but you wouldn't be able to overclock it then.
