Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

FM104 - 104 Hour Runway

    Anybody been following this?

I haven't been following this willfully but since FM104 is the radio station of choice (by democratic vote) in the office at the moment and I am located next to this nuicance, I can't help but listen.

This will probably only make sense to people who are following, but in a nutshell, Adrian Kennedy and Jeremy Dickson are doing a challenge whereby the two presenters have a race to see who can travel the furthest away from Dublin - as the crow flies - in 104 hours. The catch; they are only allowed spend €50 a day. They each give regular updates of their locations and experiences throughout the day on the station. It is in aid of the RSPCC charity.

Anyway, Jeremy has been increasingly losing the plot over the past few days, first of all breaking down saying it was totally impossible to survive on €50 a day. This resulted in a backlash from listeners who claim that most families in Ireland have to get buy on less than €50 a day in the current climate.

Today, there was an on air spat between him and his boss, (can't think of his name) during the 10-3 show, presented by Andy Preston. Basically, Jeremy is currently in Kiev and out of cash. He thinks he will be getting tomorrow's €50 at midnight tonight Kiev time, however he will not be getting it until midnight Irish Time, i.e. 02:00 in Kiev.

Jeremy accuses the boss of breaking the agreed rules and would have to take responsibility for him ending up on a park bench. The boss guy ends up saying he was sick of listening to him moaning, and told him to forget the whole thing, in fact don't even bother turning up on Monday. Jeremy replies he is determined to finish. At this point, Andy Preston buts in and says look guys I have to let you's continue this conversation in private.

Anyway, I am beginning to think this is all a load of bulls**t to be honest, it sounds like "making good radio" to me, and if it is then it is a little bit ill-fated. For example, if Jeremy's breakdown yesterday was staged, then it was a disaster giving the amount of angry replies about not been able to survive on €50. This in turn will prevent people from donating.

Also, do you really think a boss would have an on air spat with one of his employees? Or could it have been that this boss guy genuinely came on air to show the public that he was also annoyed about Jeremy's behaviour?

    Anybody else comment?

I have been listening in and out to this, I didn't hear the spat you're talking about today but I believe its €50 a day and that includes their travel, food and accommodation that is TOUGH!

Personally speaking, given that it's Adrian & Jeremy, I hope they get so far away that they get kidnaped by Kim Jong Il or someone like that who won't let them come back. Just like Avery Jessop on 30 Rock. Now that'd be a happy outcome!

Yes its 'lowest common denominator' gutter radio thats so completely contrived, much like soaps on tv, it contorts itself to ridiculous ends in a desperate attempt to stay relevant.

I'm sure it's staged although perhaps they're all just winding him up as he's being a drama queen.
