Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am thinking about buying a swath conditioner / fluffer, I only make bailed silage. How does a swath conditioner compare to a haybob for drying out a swath?

My old haybob has had it!

Conditioners seem to cost about €5,500 new.

    Any replies would be appreciated.

    Thanks

just my opinion but if you mow with a mower conditioner there should be no need to use one of these swath conditioners.

I also wonder how much wilting time are reduced with these things?

    are these machines recreational?

hay possibly would be another matter though.

    just my 2p

I reckon if you mow it out with a conditioner mower with the doors open wide on it then row it up before baling or harvesting, that way it has more air passing over the crop and when its rowed up it dries a bit more if you leave it for a few hours, something like a sinlge rotor rake or a lely rotonde might be a good job, or just hire a contractor
