    Ahh memories :)

There was a huge thread about it in After Hours a while ago - worth a read through for nostalgia's sake!

It was a dump. The trash of the country seemed to holiday there. Sorry, but it was a hole. Fine for a quick visit on a school tour in the 60s but nothing more.

So those of us who couldnt afford a Holiday to the Isle of Man are considered ''the trash of the country''?

    Thanks Muhammad Big Stopover eh....

    Thanks Srameen eh....
We never had any holidays other than a day trip here or there - no car either so it was by bus or train.

Visited once on a school trip and again as a family day trip. Learned what it was like and had the sense not to go back.
Sorry if having an opinion is frowned upon here.
And a very articulate reply there mate.

Great video. I'm actually surprised that all of the stuff is still there (arcade machines etc). I'd love to see the place opened again as a holiday village. It would be a great boost to the region in terms of economics as many people cannot afford foreign holidays at this time.

We used to go there for a week every couple of years and I absolutely loved it. Day trips were a bit crap because you'd never get to do everything in the space of a couple of hours.

Is it? I'd be very surprised if it was. I had assumed that the footage was old by now.

It used to be a great source of local jobs for the summer. Students and the like. Also I think those on the dole used to work there in times gone by because they had to work 13 weeks of the year or they'd be cut off. Maybe someone else can give more concrete recollection of exact;y what that situation was.

    So much asbestos....

According to the video description on YouTube, the footage is from 2010, and was used in the Seaview documentary.

Yeh all the stuff is still there, its eerie up there seeing all the stuff just rot away, the big yellow spinning wheel just lying there abandoned never to be spun again :(

I loved the place as a kid and a young teenager, it was always great craic and had plenty to offer, it might not have been in need of a lick of paint but at least it offer something, there is nothing like it in the northeast now.

If it re-opened I'd gladly go back.

I used to work on the Dodgems & the yellow wheel of death!!!
thanks cmpunked, they brought back the memories!

christ, when I think of the amount of times I had to roar my head off to the little Sherrif St kids trying to jump up and grab the wire mesh over the dodgems!!
if their feet hit the ground, we'd be picking up bits of tracksuits and Dublin jerseys all over the park! lol
