I posted a while ago asking about the iphone 4 battery and got loads of relpys thanks :) i went ahead and got it yay :) but now im guarding it with my life afraid ill drop it, i want to get a case but which is better the silicone ones or the hard cases? i would imagine that if you put a hard case on it, and it dropped, then the fall would vibrate through the hard plastic and to the phone thus still damaging the phone? would the silicone soften the blow... maybe im wrong. i know im acting as if i will definitely drop the phone but its murphys law that the minute you get something nice, it will break.....anyone have any (unfortunate) experience with this issue?? thanks :)

If you drop an iPhone, you run about a 50% chance of breaking some component, case or no case. They are delicate, in particular the front and rear glass. I really can't see the major advantage of a rugged case over a $2 silicon case. I've seen friends drop a phone in each with about the same result. Its not the fall, its what it hits. If your house is full of tiles and marble, then I'd say go for a rugged case. Likewise if your work entails hard surfaces.

You really have a trade off between style and rugged cases.

The best rugged case is the http://www.otterbox.com/ in my opinion. The problem is you'll add bulk.

No matter what case you get, be sure to get one of these: http://www.zagg.com/ I have one on every device I own, including a MacBook. They are fantastic. Don't be without one.

Which particular product on the site is it that you'd recommend from Zagg?

The InvisibleShield. Sorry, I thought it was obvious. I recommend it too much :)

Is it possible to get a decent iPhone 4 case for under €25?

I just picked up this one from Amazon.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/OtterBox-Commuter-Case-smartphone-polycarbonate/dp/B004AJ3W34/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1306957684&sr=8-3

Imo it strikes a decent balance between feeling sturdy and safe, and not adding too much bulk to the phone. Its a very handy case for keeping your phone in your pocket as the plastic parts prevent the silicone from sticking etc.

I had one for my 3GS previously and that was on it for over a year without coming off and the phone survived a few drops. I haven't dropped the Iphone 4 yet so cant attest to how good the new one is, but it seems solid.

They look well. I'm staying in Scotland at the moment though, what would you charge to post them over? Is that doable? No real rush, looks like it could be popped in an envelope.

If you drop me a PM we can arrange something.
