canon not making parts for canon xm2 dv camera - need parts!

    heya...
    iv just had the distressing news that my canon xm2 camera is unfixable, even though its a relatively simple problem - a cracked circuit board for the zoom lens. I spent 2500euros on this camera a few years ago, and as a chick on the dole, its not getting replaced. ever!..so im on a hunt for a battered one someone may have for spare parts? or any ideas? the repair shop have 15 suppliers to try, 14 of which have none, and one hasnr answered yet....

    How badly cracked is the circuit board? Is it a proper PCB or is is a flexible material?

    If its not a multilayer PCB it may be possible to repair with epoxy resin and wire jumpers if done very carefully. Ok, its not the ideal solution but it sometimes can work depending on how bad the circuit board is. Naturally it could let you down again in the future but if a good repair is performed it might work out ok and get you back up and running again.

    One final option is if you are insured is to put in a claim and start looking for a replacement camera :(
