Anyone here been the victim of ""host booting? I seem to have fallen victim to it as have lost several matches on H2H online seasons when winning and suddenly I lose connection even though it appears my connection is still good and I never lose connection when I lose.....

Just seen your post, this has happened to me a few times... Most head wrecking thing ever. How do they do that???

I googled it as i couldnt understand what was happening and it came up with host booting. Apparently you can install software that allows these ****ers to disconnect your router which makes it seem its your fault the disconnection happened.

Personally, these people who do this must be incredibly sad, to want to win that bad to have to resort to such tactics.

As an aside, the host booting thing seems to happen to me after 10pm UK time, less likely earlier in the day if i manage to get on.

I don't know if this has been discussed already, but is anyone else getting a glitch where when you get the ball all of a sudden your player can't move unless you sprint? Then when you go to shoot he tries a lobbed shot. Also a regular through ball becomes a lobbed through ball. The only way it stops is when the ball goes back to the opposition. This has been happening me quite frequently in matches online lately and it's beyond annoying!

I had something similar. Turns out that it was an early sign that my joypad was dying.

Also, national teams should never be matched with club teams.

I've seen a few people say this but I don't see the problem myself. I'd far rather be paired with someone playing as Argentina or England than against most of the 5* club sides, for example.

I prefer to play against another country if I pick a country, and against a club if I pick a club.

There is just a "wrongness" about it for me, otherwise.

Fair enough. I only feel like that personally when I go up against the same team I've picked. I always quit asap if that happens.

People who go mad at you if you dont play a barca style passing game

I play as stoke and use a defensive long ball style with a big focus on set pieces. What's wrong with doing that? If I try a silky passing game I'll get destroyed, this way is more realistic and effective

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,163 ✭✭✭Beefy78

People go mad at teams doing that in real life. Look at the slating people gave Chelsea for how they beat Barcelona.

So long as you're not deliberately trying to exploit the game engine I don't see any harm in whatever style of play someone uses.

An simple option to filter if you want your opponent to be club, national or either would satisfy us both.

The fact that you can't save a team lineup/formation before playing playing online is really annoying

I know it's been mentioned again and again but sweaty goals... For the love of god that's all people are playing for now. I defend most of them but some of them are just unstoppable. I was in Division 2 but I'm back down to 4 and I'm at the stage where I'm thinking what's the point playing if I'm playing the 'same game' over and over. I thought that dropping down to 4 Star teams woulda weeded them out but no...
Ridiculous custom tactics also grind my gears, particularly ones set up for sweatiness...

That damn borderline offside! I understand the game's mechanics ensure that you're offside the second ur 0.1mm ahead of the defense line. But god, it can get irritating.

Another is when you have a player lined up to take a shot with the right foot and he makes a balls of it (no pun intended) and hits it with the left! It's worse when it's a player where the weak foot is at like..1 star.

Other than that, I love it.... :D

EDIT: May I add that there is actually one other thing that grinds my gears I'm just after remembering. It's when you have the opposing player rugby tackle into ya (clash of 3D objects, not intentional) the yellow advantage icon pops up and I manage to reach the ball thinking "nice, I can fly up this line now counter-attack style" .... Ref blows the whistle and it's a free kick at my expense!...
I think there's a better way to explain it but it's one of those situations where you have to see it to get what I'm on about. So annoying though.

Started playing un-ranked matches as I thought it would stop the people quitting but now everyone is playing with edited teams. played a guy yesterday and the team was a 3 and a half star rating so I picked Belgium. Go into the game and he has Ronadlo, Messi, Xavi, Ozil, Inesta, Rooney etc on his team. Great idea letting people play online with edited teams.

If you want to play normal teams play ranked, it's what it's there for tbh, not myself but my friend plays with teems of created players like super heroes etc and the abuse he gets is unreal.

No player swaps in career mode. I don't see why FIFA can't have them. If it still hasn't been included in FIFA 13, I will be very disappointed.

What I hate about Fifa...prícks that replay every goal and do their stupid celebrations...even worse are the guys who even let the intro run..
If the other player does it I'll make sure to return the favour and at the end while it's playing the highlights I go outside for a smoke.

Playing someone with a 5 star team with the barcelona/madrid them and all they do is the lob and run their attacker onto the ball and score. Although I am pretty good at blocking them now.

The stupid motion engine..I had an opposing defender run into one of my players at the opposite goals and the player landed on the halfway line :D
I fear it's going to be even worse for Fifa13.
People that quit at half time 3-0 down...I'll never quit a game as otherwise how will I learn new defending tactics..most of those games I'll at least get 2-3 goals back anyway..
Stupid ass penalties..for the life of me I can't figure them out..must practice them I suppose :D

imo in online games there should be no replays (except for maybe showing offsides)
Also get rid of the celebrations unless your playing the comp or a friend
this would reduce the amount of rage create and opportunity for trolls

At the end of games you are able to watch replays of most your goals anyhow
(I say most becuase alot of the time i score a nice goal but wil skip the replay, go to look at it afterwards and it WONT F**KING BE THERE- instead it has alot of GK saves and wides :mad:)

Another little thing that pisses me of in UT:
Snow. If there is snow please let you have the option of having a default "coloured" ball- as its a pain to play with a white one

The intro shows the formation that both teams are playing. Not sure I see a problem with that.

Also don't see an issue with watching one replay. I don't do it because I know from this thread how angry it makes people, but it's five second to have a sip of tea. I don't get why it angers people so.

Not skipping to the menu after a match is the single most wankerish thing anyone can do in FIFA 12, IMO. It's pathetic.

Celebrations are funny, I think. If I watch a replay of a very nice goal and then the other person watches a replay of a ****e goal, it's very annoying. If you think you're clever by returning the favour, you're not (I don't mean that to you personally or anything, it's only when the replay is of a really really annoying goal to concede like a rebound or something. I'd gladly watch someone score a nice goal against me and skip a reply of a crap goal I scored.... so long as they aren't being a díck! :P)

The penalties thing reminds of something that really pisses me off. Direct free kicks. I can score them fairly regularly from about 20-28 yards out. What I hate is when someone does the lay-off thing just cos it's the easiest option. It's not that difficult to practice free kicks. Watch barcaboy's videos on youtube, go into the practice arena, etc. The lay-off rarely works from what I've seen, and scoring direct free-kicks is a lot easier after practice.

I disagree there (mainly cos of your point about the replays not being there at the end). You should be able to enjoy a great goal with a replay, take in the moment and give yourself a few seconds to calm down too! :P As I said before, I don't really mind someone watching a replay of an average goal, when they replay ****ty rebounds or sweaty goals is when it gets annoying. It's only for a few seconds though

Snow. Jesus I hate playing in the snow with the white ball. If they are relatively clever enough to do their best to not create a kit-clash, you'd think the orange ball could be used in the snow!

Not just the intro..the whole part where the teams line up for the photos as well...
Replays of good goals I don't mind..it's the poxy crappy goals where they do their mad celebration and about 3 replays of the goal..drives me nuts..
It's the same at half time...I was 3-0 down against some guy last week.
I spent about 1 minute waiting for the match to start while watching the teams lining up for their photo op and the cvnt celebrated every goal and endless replays.
Half time day and he never skipped the menu which meant another minute of watching highlights etc of his goals.
Second half finally starts and I end up beating him 5-3.
I made sure to celebrate every goal and made him watch all the highlights at the very end to pay him back :D

By default if I score a goal regardless how good I skip past it and don't bother celebrating. But if the prick on the other end doesn't return the favour..then woe to him ;)

The servers make me wonder why I even bother!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,163 ✭✭✭Beefy78

When people complain about the servers, what exactly are the problems that you see?

Other than the odd wait for a Clubs game to load, I rarely see any problems personally yet everyone seems to complain about the servers.

Losing connection to the EA servers for no apparent reason and getting a loss in the game, knocking you out of a tournament final, resetting your DNF modifier, etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,163 ✭✭✭Beefy78

Does this happen to you often?

It used to happen to me when I was connecting through a dongle. Since I moved to UPC a year or so back I've lost connection maybe twice, and I've no way of knowing if that was the server or my ISP.

I've got friends I play Clubs with who have all sorts of problems with connections but it's usually because their flatmates are downloading porn.

It's annoying when it happens though.

The EA authentication servers have been having problems the last few days as well.
I'm getting it on Battlefield 3 on the PC as well...EA are looking into it:rolleyes:
