    hi folks,

wondering if anyone here has worked in or knows of anyone working in the security industry in Oz?

my missus is from Perth & getting homesick so we're thinking of making the move.

i currently install & service HKC, Aritech, Visonic, Signet & Bosch systems but can't seem to find any Australian companies who use these products so i wouldn't be too confident looking for a job over there.

any help or advice would be appreciated..

Well it would take me a while to find out for sure but I would say the outlook is good. Depending on the state you move to you will need to be licensed.

If she wants to go home,at the end of the day your coming to live here. :o

I'm not sure about Western Australia but here in Queensland and down in NSW you need a few tickets before you can get a security licence. The first is called the Open Cable Registration which allows you to work on phone lines etc on the customer side of the wiring. There's a Restricted one too but it's being fazed out and would limit the type of work you could do anyway.

Then you'd need an alarm ticket but I would say you could apply for recognition of prior experience.

    W.A. Police licencing: http://www.police.wa.gov.au/OurServices/CommercialAgentsUnit/LicenceCategories/tabid/1275/Default.aspx

Some links on this training company's website:

All easy to get (assuming you've no criminal record :P). Bosch systems are definitely used here, the guys I've spoken to said they usually just install the systems they like working with unless something specific is requested.

Here's one job in Perth that I got from a quick search:

None of this really answers your question but you might find something in those links.
