Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Things to do in Arrecife, Lanzarote

    Hi guys,

Heading to Arrecife early next week and was just wondering if anyone had any advice on what to do over there, or pubs/restaurants are nice?

Staying in Hotel Lancelot. Also thinking about renting out a car for a day just to travel around the island so if anyone has done this and has any tips that would be great too.

Lastly, for anyone who's been, what are the prices like over there? For the usual stuff, drink, food, taxis, etc.

    Thanks :)

If you're renting a car for a day, the best thing to do is a loop of the island. Head west beyond Puero del Carmen (don't bother going into the resort, stay on the motorway), and passing Tias and Yaiza. Not much to see in either town, but Yaize is interesting in that it was completely levelled in the last big eruption in Timanfayna and was competely rebuilt.

From Yaizan head north to El Golfo, a pea green lagoon, where you can see all the different layers of rock left from eruptions over the years then head back towards Yaiza, but turn east for Timanfayna National Park. The landscape is spectacular. You can do a camel ride if you like but head up to El Diablo restaurant where you can take a bus ride around the volcanoes!

After this start travelling East through the middle of the island, stopping at Teguise, the original capitol and then on to Mirador del Rio. The road from Tequise to MdR is lovely, very scenic and takes in the monument to the farmer, it's an eye catching metal structure on a big roundabout. Mirador del Rio is a lookout point on the top of a cliff.

After that, head south to Jameos del Agua. It's a cave structure, pretty and worth the stop.

From here it's about 20 mins drive back to Arricife.

This would take up a whole day so be sure the rental office opens early and closes late!
