Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Following on from a recent forum on which is better, Topper or mower, I am going to buy a 5.6 -6 ft disc mower with topping skids.

With a budget of 2- 2.5K, I know I will only get a second hand one,can anyone suggest what make you would go for
or better still a dealer that has some good ones at the moment.
    Based in midlands.

    Many Thanks,

I agree with Bob, Kuhn are recognised as being the best out there. They are well built with quality steel - but you'll pay for them. It might be hard to find a good one second hand, but if you can, it would be the weapon of choice.

I have a one of them Fort (2060) disc mowers.
Have it about 7/8 years now.
Hasnt given me an ounce of bother.
Mind you, its well cared for. stored under roof and well maintained. Im the only user. Does a great job on my mowing, topping and even a bit of hedge trimming every year.

I dont have the luxury of comparing it to the Kuhns or Lelys of todays world but it does the job for me and does it well.

Agreed. There's one near me. 6 or 7 years, and does only farmers own work, including topping. Some not so smooth ground into the bargain. Wouldn't be a fella that would always keep grease in the grease gun either:cool: Stll going grand.

yep Ive seen the Fort but a dealer I know fairly well advised me to keep away from them.
Its hard to find kuhn, or other good make in decent condition second hand.
Will have to keep on the look out.
    Thanks for the replies

had a fort and it gave no trouble sold it to a friend and is still going and we are still friends, have a maragon now and its just as good do a lot of jobs around for neigbours topping and cutting hay ,both mowers would not be the best for rocks and very rough work or owners.

Anyone have any experience of a Sip mower? Seen one within price range but not familiar with them.
