Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

Just wondering of anyone knows a decent mechanic / engineer. I have gearbox from my 1950s' brit bike that is working fine ,but I have to take it out of the bike to change the gearbox sprocket ......and once I 've got it out ,it would be as well to have someone check it out , change the beearings and bushes and give it a once over .I am in Dublin (Northside) ,but dont mind dropping the box off anywhere.

I use Bert in BHP. His website is down right now, getting redone, but he's up in Tallaght and he's brilliant. He used to run the workshop in Ducati Dublin and then went out on his own. See http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/motorbikes/830548 - he knows Ducati's and older bikes inside out. He's a really nice guy give him a bell and tell him Colly sent ya ;)

Not sure what bike you are talking about, but i don't know anyone which needs to be removed from frame to change sprockets.

Gearboxes need to be set up extremely accurately. If there is no problems with it at the moment and it is not leaking oil ( or too much oil ) I would leave it alone.

If you do decide to proceed, i would approach IVVMCC or LCMCC, both vintage clubs, as these clubs generally have knowledgeable members albe to advice and work on almost any make and model of machine.

    Just proceed with caution!
