Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Though usually quite tech minded, home cinema is one thing that I'm completely in the dark about. I have a few question I was hoping someone might be able to help me with.

Firstly, I have an LG 42LD450 HDTV. I have an Xbox connected to it via the Component cable and a PS3 via one of the HDMI slots.

What I'm looking for is basically a surround sound system (5.1). Is it possible to have something to plug into the TV (or any TV) that will do that? That is, regardless of whether it's the PS3, Xbox or TV being used, have the appropriate sound go to extra speakers.

I've seen Home Cinema things, but they appear to me to be just DVD players with speakers, and that I wouldn't get proper surround sound from the Xbox, etc.

I'm quite confused by this all.

    Any help is much appreciated!

Yes you need a receiver like this

You can connect the 360 via component and optical and ps3 via hdmi through this.

Here's a nice set of speakers

OK, so there doesn't exist a way to use the digital optical audio output to get the desired effect?

    Thanks.
