    What. Just. Happend?
That paper was a joke, and not the good kind :O
The unseen stuff was okiidokii with me, the poem was kind of hard to grasp but other than that the fiction and shakespearean drama were alright.

    but the studied questions.
    W...T....F?!?!?
thats all i have to say.
the drama heroine question was ok. i wrote about juliet.
the novel moving moment was iffy... i wrote about how in tkamb boo lead scout to his door, and how it was a moment of clarity for scout etc.. and waffled on about mockingbirds and snowmen as symbols for a while...
the poetry was a complete joke though. im just praying that He wishes for the clothes of heaven was ok tto use for the poem where something is brought alive... i wrote about how he personified his dreams and used the metaphor of a cloth and the universe to display his love....

    Im shocked by that paper....

I think it went REALLY well surprisingly!!

Unseen poetry was so boring but the drama was piss!!
And fiction i thought that was the easies section :O

worst exam ever is right, after a great paper 1 they ****ed us over with paper 2 i got it finished too early nothing to write about impossible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭ciara95

That went ok, not catastrophic. I did the shakespearean unseen.. but found it hard to write anything remotely long.
I used Romeo for the hero, studied drama
Unseen poetry was ok, I did Lake isle of Innisfree, which I'm sure half the country did!
Unseen fiction was nice, I liked the extract. And I did my studied Fiction on a moving moment, which was how Piggy in Lord of the Flies was bullied, talked about his struggles on the island, the forshadowing of his death, how people didnt realise he was loyal and wise blahblahblah

Overall, it was pretty good. I'd love an A, but english is quite subjective. Hope I got a B at least.

    Paper 1 was great.
    Paper 2 was okay.

Paper 2 the drama was grand, but the FECKIN' poem. And the studied novel was twice as bad D:

    I'm getting a B.

My friend and I were in the library for the break, and she was taking the piss out of me because I only knew two poems. I was delighted that I could use Lake Isle of Inisfree. I love you Yeats! ANYWAY! Paper two was all going well, until I looked at the clock. Just starting fiction with half an hour left, fantastic. Rushed through the unseen, I think I managed to make sense. Had five minutes left to do studied novel.. which I knew pretty much nothing about.. I threw in loads of quotes and basically made the whole thing up.. Had to shorten it down completely.

Sooo.. I don't know if I'm worried or not because Paper 1 was so easy.. And I mean I did get every other part of Paper 2 done pretty well except for fiction.. So I don't think I did too bad. :)

OH yeah, I knew I had something to ask! You know how you have a choice between the unseen dramas? My friends told me you get more marks for doing the Shakespeare one. My English teacher told us to always do the normal one and not to bother is Shakespeare! Is this extra points thing true? Well I know they're both worth 30, but do you get like.. marks for effort? :P

Our teacher told us that the Shakespeare one can seem more impressive, but that if you don't understand it, you should always go for the other. I went for the Shakespeare because I'm an arrogant feck :p

wowww..english paper 2 fictions question..wtf? i was preparing for a character and then a setting and scene was on it?!ugh! i wrote a load of bull**** for that question. i found the unseen stuff really good.. wrote a lot!

I actually thought it went alright :p
Poem was stupid but I found it ok enough.

When I saw the studied poetry question this was my reaction cause the poem I had learned fitted it perfectly :P

Me too! Of Mice and Men is pretty much made for the other question, but apparently I'm too much of a dumbass to pick the right one :(

what were you as posed to write about that?? are you doing to kill a mocking bird?? !

I am... undecided on how I did.

Unseen Drama was grand - I did question one and two.

Studied Drama - Yes, I am a retard. I said Romeo was the villain of the play. Except I kind of backed up what I was saying alright, so I should get some marks. :pac:

Unseen Poetrty - what a stupid poem. I did question one and three. Again I am a retard, I mixed up metaphors and similes. I had it right the first time but then I scribbled all the metaphors out and wrote in similes. Silly me. :pac:

Studied Poetry - Meh! I only knew one poem and I didn't even know that like, so I did alright. I wrote about how Base Details brings the harsh realities of warfare to life. :)

Unseen Fiction - That went well, I quite liked it actually. I did question one and three here.

Studied Fiction - I did the second question on Maycomb. It was grand. I was unsure of how long to make each part as it was split 10-20, but it was grand I suppose.

When I got my paper, I just read all the studied questions and I started crying (inside), I thought I was in trouble but when I got around to it they were grand like and I was able to answer everything.

Even got the paper finished five minutes early! Timing FTW! :pac:

Hopefully I'm still in line for a B.

Em. As far as I can remember, those were three 10 mark questions so you had to do all three. :/

Are ya sure you did just one and three?

Me too! Of Mice and Men is pretty much made for the other question, but apparently I'm too much of a dumbass to pick the right one :(

i picked the setting question on of mice and men and i thought it was my best q on the whole paper!
    ANALYSIS

unseen drama - okay could have been worse
seen drama - dont really no tbh i didnt like the q i did the serious or funny q on romeo and juliet

unseen poetry - pretty bad and to make it worse i only thought that we were supposed to do 2 out of 3 but silly me i guess i wouldnt have had time to do 3 so.
seen poetry - worst q on paper i changed my poems twice and i wrote bout half page hoping that examiner will give a few marks ;)

unseen fiction - wasnt good or bad in the middle i guess :/
seen fiction - prob was best q in paper like i said above i did of mice and men and the setting q

is it just me or have most of those questions like never came up in previous exam papers and it was just totally hard and i hate the exam commsion :) LOL

yeah you're right, you had to do all 3.

I wrote about the setting in studied drama, I actually never finished reading TKMB because I was off sick so I didn't want to write about Scoutand Boo on the porch :(

WORST PAPER 2 EVER. That said, I think it went OK and I feel a little more confident after seeing these replies and taking to people at school. The whole country found it hard guys, and it's marked on a curve!

Unseen Drama - I did the Shakespearean drama because it looked easy to understand and it's meant to be marked easier, and I love questions where you can kinda be creative, so the diary question was lovely.

Studied Drama - Ughhh, I did a page on question 2 before realising I hated it and I went and did question 1. Think it went OK, got in a good bit.

Unseen Poetry - Ugh go away Ms Reece, I stared at that poem for so long thinking 'wtf' before I just said, 'meh, everyone's in the same boat' and went for it.

Studied Poetry - I did the Lake Isle of Innisfree but now I wish I hadn't because it looks like the whole country did it and my answer wasn't amazing or anything. The second question was crappy too though, and I hate the only other poem I could have done to fit question one, so what can you do?

Unseen fiction - I actually quite liked it, and the reference to Great Expectations made me feel smart what with it being on my bedside table as we speak. :p I did the first two questions, question two could have been a hit or miss though.

Studied fiction - most horrible questions ever, I wanted them or relationship. I did the setting one and realised how horrible it was with fifteen minutes to go, so I rushed through it and hoped for the best.

    My hand is dying...

Um, the studied fiction section was 15 - 15. What did you write about? All I could manage was 2 pages. :(

You're right, we didn't have the choice for the unseen poem, all three questions had to be answered..

I found it ok, I found the unseen fiction awful, the drama wasn't too bad, looks like they had to balance out Paper I and II :(

I wrote two pages for studied fiction, but it was on extra paper and the lines were more widely-spaced so it would've been one and a half on the normal paper. Also, there's loads of Facebook groups about the Other Drama and none about Shakespearean, I feel so alone. :(

Thought p2 was ok. The studied fiction was difficult though

Did everyone use the lake isle of innisfree for that place/person/thing? I had that and dulce et decorum est prepared, thought I'd be daring and described the guy with no gas mask :D

Paper 2 was hell! Paper 1 was the job, it couldn't have gone better.

Paper 2 was ridiculously ****. The drama was actually very easy, even the studied drama - I did the question two for the studied drama. I said it was serious because death and love are the two main themes in Romeo and Juliet and that's hardly light-hearted so, yeah.

The poem was stupid. I hate Mrs. Reece. What kind of poem was that?! For the studied poem I did the first one. I did Mid-term Break by Seamus Heaney. It was so hard though, I couldn't answer the question at all, I did just under a page for both questions. :/

The fiction wasn't too bad. Well, the studied fiction was bad because we had a sub teacher when we were supposed to be reading the book and, well, we never did it. xD I did Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. **** book. I did the setting question. It was quite easy considering the book was about racism and yeah...

But overall I think I might have gotten a high C after paper 2. It was so hard!

i didnt need extra paper 4 either paper ?:(
