Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm trying to do a factory reset to my Dell Dimension 5150 and I'm unable to as I'm getting the below when I do:

    a) I don't have Symantec installed so can't restore
    b) When I try CTRL F11, I'm getting told there's no floppy disc.

    Can anyone advise?

Where are you doing this from? Inside windows, windows xp setup?

If you want a clean reinstall without saving any of the files on the PC you should be putting in the windows disk, booting from that disk and formatting/reinstalling. All done outside of windows so it wouldn't matter what's installed on the PC.

By factory reset do you mean a format and re-install of windows?

If so it's generally a case of popping in your Windows CD and booting to the disk drive.

If you're trying to do it using a recovery partition then I'm not entirely sure.

    Edit: Damn, beaten

Normally I would but this has all the windows and recovery software in a partition, thus there was no disc with it.

I just can't seem to start off the recovery process..?

To boot to the recovery partition power on the computer and hit F12 while the Dell logo is on screen (i.e. before Windows loads) .

If you havent got a drivers/utilities CD I'd advise you to download any drivers you might need , especially networking , and save them to an external media such as a USB drive or CD etc before proceeding . Also save any files and documents you may want as factory reset will of course delete them .

Drivers for hardware that shipped with your machine are available here . Take care to select the appropriate OS .
