Just putting this onto my nails now.Wouldnt usually go for this colour but decided to give something different a go.Needs 2/3 coasts for even coverage but I really like the brush.Oh not my picture.My nails are all stubby and different lenghts and with icky cuticles.0 -

Started the 31-day Nail Challenge on my blog today - may as well, I paint my nails every day anyway! Here's the red for Day 1 - Rimmel Lasting Finish, Exotica.
Left - oustide, no flash. Right - inside, with flash. It's lovely, I'm sorry I haven't used it more to be honest, but I suppose that's the beauty of the challenge, you get to work your way through your stash!0 -
Bit of a rookie question, I've noticed that in all of the online pics many people stop painting the nail about 2mm above the cuticle. It seems a little empty to me, like they missed a bit. However I always paint down to the cuticle,even if it tops them a little, I can clean it with a cotton bud.
Is there a reason for this?
Btw I love the essence matte topcoat I bought, great with navy essence varnish, looks like this: (img from google)

Painting too close to your cuticles is called flooding the cuticle. One, it looks messy and two, it can dry out the cuticle if you are constantly picking off excess polish or using remover on that delicate skin.
I used to always flood my cuticles but a bit of practice and I think I'm pretty good at doing a neat paint job now!

Another good neon pink is Model's Own Bubblegum. It is seriously bright!!Sauvignon82 wrote: »Pythia is that colour neon?
Anybody else know of a good strong neon/glow in the dark varnish?
The only thing with neon polishes is they tend to dry slightly matte, so you will need to use a topcoat if you want a nice shine.0 -
