I'm always straight and up front when it comes to my prize bonds, the only misleading information about me is my user name ''Sligo Quay'' because infact I'm not from Sligo, I don't live in Sligo, but if I ever win the million, they'll be seaching Sligo but they won't find me there because I live in a completely different part of the country.
I live in hope, I dream big, and next Friday is only 48 hours away.
Do you live near a Quay though? I'll be knocking on doors up and down the Liffey next :)

Not worth a hat of crabs! I would love to see the panic if a large group of people cashed in their bonds! They might even increase the prize money again?

Yup, you can clearly see in the winnings breakdown when they changed the prize structure.

They would love to see people taking their money out and spending it. They put the limit on new holdings last year to stop so much money coming in. When three interest rate reductions on the prize fund had failed to stop the massive influx. If anything a further reduction is on the cards, since holdings are now at a record and heading ever upwards.

Total win on 30k 650 euro in since March or April 2015 havent wob anything yet on the 50k that I put in in April 2017

Which I completely do no understand! Has to be an Irish thing. I wonder if the people who are putting their savings in prizebonds are all already maximising their pension contributions for tax efficieny.

How does that compare with interest on savings by other methods?

That's interesting Negative G - your frequency of wins in first half of 2017 is much greater than in 2016. My wins have absolutely plummeted in 2017 - I have won 33% of 2016's wins to date.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,368 ✭✭✭Chuchote

My wins have stopped too. Perhaps the Flow is saving them up and I'll win the million.

Hopefully my good fortune continues, it could just as easily go the other way. I expect to win something every 6-8 weeks on average, if it gets much longer than that I think I'll withdraw my funds and look elsewhere.

I'm pretty surprised that the 20k I invested in October 2016 haven't won anything. I certainly would have expected to have at least 1 or 2 in 9 months.

Overall, despite no winnings on €20k, I'm still significantly better off than if I had have chosen a fixed term savings account instead.

Please pull yourself together, calm down, take a deep breath, we must live hope and dream big, next Friday the million is up for grabs.

Eh nothing for me this week:mad:, last win 2nd June €50.

I have €10K for a few years. I can only see back to March 2014 on the Prize Bonds site, but in each of 2014, 2015 and 2016 I won 2 €50's which is 1% DIRT free. Nothing this year to date. Below are the details of my wins in 2016.

    14 October 2016 €50 GI472076

    13 May 2016 €50 GI471714

Right on cue after 6 months my €10K block comes up with a winner. If the pattern continues I will get one more later in the year. One other winner 23 June as well.

    Congratulations you have new winners.
    Draw Date
    Prize Value
    Bond Number

    23 June 2017
    €50
    KB356267

    23 June 2017
    €50
    GI472454

A good strategy for those suffering a drought might be to move to Wexford. Over the last three draws they got 6 of the 30 €1,000 prizes on offer. Dublin got 10.
