Someone on Reddit was claiming that they knew of shady goings on in the prize bond office.
Not the first time I've heard people talking about it either.
I've heard you wont win big unless you live local..........if you know what im saying ;)

An unsupervised crony draw in corrupt little Ireland, what could be wrong!!!

    You'd want to be mad.

Just double checking on how to check your bonds.for winners.is it a case of just entering the number of the bond..i have a few ..do I need to enter the group as well....

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,067 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

The group is only 'your' name i.e. Aunty's legacy/ 21st birthday/1st Communion gift etc

After much deliberation and reading all the posts here about prizebonds becoming a worse and worse investment as time goes on..

    I have ‘invested’ €50k

I’ll only report back here with wins, hopefully often!

PBWinner 2017: €50 does not bode well after looking back on the previous years wins!

Welcome prizebondloser. Hopefully you will be reporting back on a regular basis :)

I have a couple of K in these too.
I've won next to nothing in the last few years ( in fact, that might be exactly nothing ), so I mailed them to complain and ask what the position with transparency was.

    The following week I won €250 - coincidence ?????????

But then you will have to change your name to prizebondwinner :D

One would think it would be a public draw as if they were doing any underhand dealing there would be a lot of egg on the Irish
    Government's face.

Of course the irish Govenment would never engage in anything underhanded...They fear egg on thier faces far too much.

Well I'd love a jackpot winner to post in this thread, just for curiosity sake, would certainly generate a good discussion, last Friday a Dublin bond holder won a €1,000,000euro purchased in 2015, just 2 years old, was it a single random bond or one of a large batch that some of us hold in this thread. we seem to only have €50euro winners here, no €1,000 or €€50,000 winners here, they don't exist in this thread.
Good luck to everybody tomorrow, pity the thread is getting hijacked by ''financial experts'' who seem to think they have all the answers, but none of us do on this random draw that keeps us hooked for the last 60 years.

In post #3402 on Page 227 I said that I won €1,000 in 2010 and again in 2015. On the same page I noted that someone in Kildare has a block of bonds worth millions. Out of curiosity I check their winnings every week. They win loads of €50's but never anything higher since I started checking.

There are only 520 €1,000 wins every year so the chances of any of them apart from myself even knowing about this thread are probably very small. We only get a few dozen at most reporting their €50 wins. Since there are about 370,000 €50 wins every year we are a very exclusive group.

After not winning anything for four weeks, which is unusual for me, I had a winner €50
but with a twist the same bond won on the 10/3 this year, thats two bonds that have won twice for me.

Delighted to see those posts - they cheer me up (somewhat!)

AgentSmyth - I look forward to your next calculation of how many times €x worth of bonds should win - I am so far down on last year's winnings, I need to feel there's a brighter future ahead!

Right on cue after 6 months my €10K block comes up with a winner. If the pattern continues I will get one more later in the year. One other winner 23 June as well.

    Congratulations you have new winners.

A good strategy for those suffering a drought might be to move to Wexford. Over the last three draws they got 6 of the 30 €1,000 prizes on offer. Dublin got 10.

My €10K block came up with another winner today, just two weeks after the previous one. That makes €100 won by that block in each of 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 to date.

    Congratulations you have new winners.

Consider cashing the 70k and investing the lot in bitcoin

I'm going to cash in my 30k and start again. In smaller increments over a longer period.

10k for new kitchen and some house improvements, then.....

Say 2k per month or something for 10 months for the remaining 20k.

Anecdotally of course, those who buy win pretty soon, then wham! Nothing.

    I'll let you know.

Interesting. I had that feeling myself so I checked my win record.

I started buying in bits n pieces in early 2015.

    I won 2 X €50 in July/August in 2015, then another €50 in March last year.

I've about 6/7k now (and for the last 6/7 months). I won the first two prizes when I'd less than 2k. As you say, anecdotal, but interesting.

    Just asking.

Does anyone know who is present when the prize bonds are called out?

Is it open to the public or what.
