Question..if you were to be means tested at some stage due to being made redundant..should you disclose info on bonds

Yes, of course, if the means test requires you to disclose your assets. They're assets.

With a properly diversified portfolio in low risk investments the risk should be virtually non-existent.

I just can't help but feel that these guys are losing an incredible amount of value.
When the risk is non-existent, the return is usually small, but the risk is still there unless you're constantly looking at it (on a daily basis).

Any long term banking investment that I've seen has a set time (with AIB, it's 5 years) that the cash (with AIB, it's a min of €20k) has to be there, and there's a risk you'll get back less than you put in.

The prize bonds can be withdrawn at any time after the initial 90 days, and you stand to gain should you win something, but you won't get back less than you put in.

/edit; I'm half tempted to invest in the prize bonds myself, instead of buying lotto tickets. At least this way, i get to get all my money back if I choose :pac:

Yes. Why would they not be? There may space on the form to identify them as assets held jointly with another person, or you may want to add a note to that effect, but they're definitely assets and you need to disclose your interest in them.

Well, there's been speculation that Eir Telecom might float.
    What could possibly go wrongðŸ˜

the big prize is now e1million every 6 months now....personally I'd prefer a quarterly e500k draw instead of this.

Any preferences? or could this be broken into smaller lumps and drawn more frequently maybe...

I'd prefer if all the prizes were €50 then we would have 6115 winners every week rather then the 4106 that we have at present

Yes, I had multiple wins a couple of times - not even a single win in the last few months though.

Interesting news for PB holders, Merkels party had its worst result in 70 years at the German elections, she is the quantative easing Queen and after this poor result her party will have to go into coalition with parties that want QE to end and finally after five years of no return give German & thus European savers a real break and hike up interest rates, wonderful news for us PB holders as it means rates could go up much quicker than expected, rates WILL rise next year but now it's a question of how much? A quarter % for sure but with this defeat perhaps a full 1% by December 2018? Let us pray it happens for the humble PB holder, 2018 the year of interest rate rise! Glorious news.
