Sorry for the delay in my usual posting but I'm away at the moment, anyhow
If my figures are correct it would appear the PB fund is now about 3,169,800,000 Euro as of the end of December 17,
Which means at the moment there are about 507,168,000 bonds.

During December I reckon the PB fund reduced by 53,560,000 Euro,
Which means there will be 8,569,600 less bonds in each draw during Janaury compared to December.

I would estimate that on average there was a net reduction in the PB fund of 3,347,500 Euro for each working day during December

    2016
    June's daily growth €1,786,487 old rate 1.25%
    July's daily growth €1,500,280 new rate .85%
    August's daily growth €1,529,411 @ .85%
    September's daily growth €1,251,336 @ .85%
    October's daily growth €145,658 @ .85%
    November's daily growth €2,101,279 @ .85%
    December's daily growth €3,868,512 @ .85%
    2017
    Janurary's daily growth €1,768,797 @ .85%
    February's daily growth €1,590,588 @ .85%
    March's daily growth €1,418,181 @ .85%
    April's daily growth €1,308,497 @ .85%
    May's daily growth €1,107,002 @ .85%
    June's daily growth €1,170,985 @ .85%
    July's daily growth €4,567,882 @ .85%
    August's daily growth €898,182 @ .5%
    September's daily growth €817,142 @ .5%
    October's daily growth €378,181 @ .5%
    November's daily growth €768,695 @ .5%
    December's daily Growth €-3,347,500  @ .5%

It will be interesting to see this year if my figures which are based on the prizes paid match the PB's year end figure in their accounts, Last year it was differant, they had more € then me ????

    Hi all,
Check in on this thread the odd time to see how others are doing.
Have won €200 so far on €17500 invested over roughly a period of 15 months. Not sure if this is a good return or not, seems slightly better then the interest you would get from a bank account over the same period.
All wins have come within the last 10 months. So on average thus far I've a win ratio of  €50 every 4 months roughly since original investment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,066 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

    Better return than mine!

PS - anyone thinking of taking all the advice given here previously and cashing in their PBs to buy bitcoin????????? :)

How credible do you think this is? Fifteen prizes in total to Leitrim Friday 12 January, and two of them to the same person.

    Prize Value Winning Bond County

    50 ACT132663 LEITRIM
    50 ACT132722 LEITRIM

I don't. But on any working day about 10,000 bonds will be bought. The chances of two of them 59 numbers apart belonging to two separate customers in Leitrim are slim. Much slimmer are the chances of both winning on the same day.

But even if this is the case, it shows that what Mechatronical posted is eminently credible.

Good day for the Old Timers today. Five winners out of the first million bonds issued, in the 1950's. I hope they are still around to enjoy their windfall.

    Prize Value Winning Bond County
    50 169232 DUBLIN
    50 203279 KERRY
    50 203306 CORK
    50 507029 DUBLIN
    50 804305 WATERFORD

There were none out of the next three million. I checked and there are a lot of unclaimed prizes / uncashed prize cheques belonging to bonds from back then. After 60 years it must be time for Prize Bonds to do something about those ancient bonds.

This calculator works out how much an investment is worth long term. At 60 years £5 (€6.35) is worth €20.83 at 2% compound. At 4% it is €66.80. So not a bad return for their investment.

So what are my £5 bonds from 1957 worth now if I cash them in €6.35?

Correct. But just check them on the website first. There are 994 unclaimed prizes from the first one million bonds. I noticed one bond that won twice and there are probably others. Also another 476 winners never cashed their cheque.

Are the old bonds still in the draw or how can you find out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,066 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

Unless you have cashed in your bonds, all bonds are in each draw.

Probably a common experience but don't despair. According to the odds worked out by Agent Smyth you will get 5 wins in ever 52 draws given average luck. 16 draws since you won.
