Yeah that's shocking, they'll have to bring the rate up surely?

Rate is reviewed regularly and moves in line with ecb rate.

    Ecb rate is zero.

Some banks charge you for deposits.

So a guarantee of 100% of your money and a slight chance of a prize is better than bank deposit rates.

If the ecb rate increased to 3%, you'd have 7 times the current prize level - you'd also have higher mortgage, car loan and general price inflation

What is the process to buy €25k worth? Assuming I can't just use my debit card to buy in the post office.

No winnings as of yet; 10k in bonds since the beginning of April this year. Statistically, looks like I'll be quite a while waiting yet!

I have about 4 grand in prize bonds accumulated over 20 years but with the overall big drop in the prize bonds and very poor personal winnings (i've only won x2 50euro ever) i'm unsure what to do.

People on here seem to talk about reissuing, should i cash them all in and repurchase, is this something that makes a difference (i know there can't be concrete evidence but just in general)?

Bonds bought for IR£5 (equivalent to €6.35) have a slightly better chance of winning than those bought for €6.25 each. This is catered for in the software which operates the draw.

Other than that each bond has exactly the same chance of winning. Getting them reissued won't make any difference.

You'd think in 2018 they'd have a mobile app for people to check their numbers in a simple way...

It should be very easy to write one. It would only have to display
    "NOTHING THIS WEEK"
every time the app was opened. :)

Andrew Flexing you seem to have an amazing return - c€600 since you started posting last September???? Are you incredibly lucky or have you millions in there?

What evidence is this, I never heard this before, is it because of the slightly high ''face value'' I have 100 prize bonds I purchased between 1985 and 1990 IR£500starting at AF
    to AN
after 22 years won €75euro in 2012 and €75euro in 2013, only won twice on those.
Strangely more resent bonds are winning the jackpot, very seldom an old bond wins big 1 million or €50,000, seems to be more resent bonds, I currently hold €60,000 in bonds purchased since August 2015 including a €10,000 batch purchased in June 2017, won nothing on those.
Nothing this week, last win 22nd September 2017 €50euro.

I have all my savings in there (prefer not to say how much), I said I'd try it for a year and see...It's working out better than my old bank account interest.

Wow, you can only hold €250,000 worth - you've won €600 in less than 10 months ... you're doing very well!

Isn't that how random things go though? Some people will perform above average, some people will perform below average and some people will be in the middle. A very big Prize Bond holding should (in theory) return more prizes over time, but any one bond can win any one prize, so the randomness factor will throw out the odd anomalies here and there. (It would be nice if it threw them my way though!)
